A sofa in Dubai takes a beating from dust, sunlight, air conditioning, children and guests, and the cleaning market sells the fix in per-seat prices that hide most of the real decisions. This sofa cleaning Dubai guide covers fabric methods, drying time, stain limits, quotes and in-home preparation, checked against provider pages and official sources on 29 October 2026.

Your sofa has quietly collected a lot: dust from the street, sunlight on one armrest, a few years of snacks and possibly a toddler’s art project. Booking a cleaner sounds easy. Then the quotes arrive with different prices per seat and no explanation.

The trick is that sofa cleaning dubai providers price by seat, but the real decisions sit elsewhere. Fabric type, method, drying time and stain limits decide if you end up with a fresh sofa or a disappointment. This guide shows how to read the care tag, compare quotes properly and prepare your home, so you know what a visit can and cannot fix before anyone arrives.

The short answer

Sofa cleaning Dubai prices, methods and drying times all hinge on one thing you can check in two minutes: the care code on the tag under your cushion. W means water-based cleaning is fine, S means solvent only, WS means either, and X is the one to ask about before anybody touches the fabric. Photograph that tag before you request a single quote.

On the published sofa cleaning Dubai prices we read on 29 October 2026, ServiceMarket advertises AED 50 per seat for shampoo cleaning and AED 70 per seat for steam, Urban Company lists sofa deep cleaning from AED 49, and Justlife quotes by size and type. Drying is usually 4 to 6 hours according to ServiceMarket’s own page, so book the visit for the afternoon, not the morning of a dinner party.

A sofa cleaning Dubai visit lifts soil, oils, dust and many fresh spills. It rarely reverses sun fade, dye transfer from dark clothes, bleach marks, ink that has set, or damage inside the foam. Before the visit, vacuum lightly, strip the cushions, show the team every problem stain and ask for the method, the seat count and the total with VAT in writing. The rest of this page explains why each of those steps matters.

How this page was researched

This is desk research. DubaiEveryday.com has not hired a sofa cleaner, requested a quote, watched a crew work or tested a method on a fabric, and nothing below describes a personal job. There is no author persona and no invented anecdote.

Provider facts come from the public pages of ServiceMarket, Urban Company and Justlife, read on 29 October 2026. They show advertised prices and stated terms, not what any crew does in your living room. Consumer and technical background comes from the IICRC (the body behind the upholstery cleaning standard), Which?, American Leather, Leather Naturally, Sofology, National Jewish Health, the US EPA and the US CDC. Dubai rules come from the UAE government portal, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Land Department and MOHRE.

What we could not confirm about sofa cleaning Dubai providers is noted in the section where it matters: no provider publishes a drying-time guarantee, a stain-removal guarantee or a minimum charge that we could read, and we could not find a sofa-specific licensing rule.

Anything marked “our calculation” is arithmetic on published inputs, and anything marked “Illustrative example” is invented to show logic, not a market fact. Inclusion of a provider is not a ranking and was not paid for. This is consumer information, not professional textile-restoration, legal or insurance advice.

Sofa cleaning Dubai at a glance: what a visit can and cannot fix

A professional sofa cleaning Dubai visit is a short, mechanical job that follows a fairly standard order. The team vacuums dry soil first, applies a cleaning solution or steam, then pulls the dirty moisture back out with a wet vacuum or extractor. Urban Company’s own process notes describe exactly that sequence: dry vacuuming, foam shampooing with vacuuming, and wet vacuuming of the front and back. ServiceMarket says its teams deep-vacuum first to remove dust and mites.

What that sequence is good at, in any sofa cleaning Dubai booking, is ordinary soil: skin oils on armrests, dust that has settled into the weave, crumbs, light food and drink marks, and the general greyness of a family sofa after a year.

What it cannot do is change the fabric itself. Fibre that has faded in the sun, pile that has been crushed flat, seams that have split, foam that has gone soft and stains that have chemically bonded with the dye are all outside the reach of a cleaning machine.

What this page covers, and what it leaves to others

This sofa cleaning Dubai guide is about sofas and upholstered furniture only: fabric methods, drying time, stain limits, quotes and the preparation you do at home. If your real question is how to hire and vet a regular cleaner, what licences and hourly rates look like, or what insurance matters, read our guide to cleaning services in Dubai.

If you are weighing a whole-home reset with kitchen, bathrooms and windows, the deep cleaning in Dubai guide covers what is included and where upholstery fits as an add-on. We do not repeat either here.

The words “sofa cleaning Dubai” cover three quite different purchases, and the price per seat that headlines most pages blurs them together. One is a routine freshen-up of a sofa in decent shape. The second is a problem job: pet accidents, a spilled drink that soaked through, a baby’s reflux, a smell.

The third is a pre-handover or pre-sale clean where the aim is appearance and a clean bill of health for a landlord or buyer. The same machine can serve all three, but the questions you ask should change.

The limits of sofa cleaning Dubai services, before you spend a dirham

There are four limits. First, a cleaner works on what is on the fabric and in the top layers of the padding, not on the whole cushion core. Second, moisture is the main risk, because foam and wadding hold water far longer than the cover does.

Third, heat and chemistry can set some stains rather than lift them. Fourth, no provider we read publishes a guarantee that a given stain will come out, and several are honest enough to say outcomes depend on the fabric and the age of the mark.

That last point deserves emphasis in any sofa cleaning Dubai purchase. A sofa cleaning Dubai booking page that says “removes old stains” is describing the intent of the service, not a promise. The practical consequence is simple: treat the visit as a cleaning, not a repair, and agree in advance what you will do if one stain stays. Later sections give you the words for that conversation, starting with the stain scale in the stain limits section.

The two-minute check. Lift a seat cushion and find the tag. Photograph it, including any letters. Then write down how many seats, armchairs, footstools and dining chairs you want cleaned, and whether any cover is removable. Those four facts are all a serious sofa cleaning Dubai quote request needs, and they make the later price comparison honest.

What Dubai providers publish: prices, methods and terms

We looked at three consumer-facing sofa cleaning Dubai booking platforms because they publish enough to read. This sofa cleaning Dubai snapshot covers advertised terms on 29 October 2026; it is not a ranking and not an endorsement. Promotional codes are ignored throughout, because they change weekly and tell you nothing about the base price. Every figure below is an advertised price and could differ at checkout, by area or by the company assigned to your job.

ServiceMarket: per-seat pricing with two methods

ServiceMarket’s Dubai sofa page states a price of AED 50 per seat for shampoo cleaning and AED 70 per seat for steam cleaning, with the headline “from AED 50”. Its help-centre article agrees on those two figures and adds that cushion cleaning is included, one cushion per seat, so a three-seat sofa gets three cushions cleaned. The page says the team arrives with a vacuum and mild shampoos, surveys the sofas on the day to choose the option, and moves the furniture itself.

Two details are worth noting. First, ServiceMarket describes steam as generally more efficient against germs and bacteria, and says a steamed sofa need not wait to dry before use, while giving “around 4 to 6 hours” as the usual drying time depending on method and ventilation.

Those two statements pull in different directions, and the drying section below explains why we treat the drying figure as the safer planning number. Second, ServiceMarket says its cleaning products are Municipality-approved, which we test against what Dubai Municipality actually publishes later on.

The inconsistency to know about: a ServiceMarket blog post on sofa prices, first published in April 2025 and showing a modification date of April 2026, lists steam cleaning at AED 75 for an armchair, AED 150 for a two-seater and AED 225 for a three-seater, which works out at AED 75 a seat. The sofa page and help-centre article say AED 70. Shampoo figures match across all three at AED 50 a seat. The gap is small, but it is exactly why a written quote beats a screenshot.

Urban Company: packages by sofa type, plus combinations

Among sofa cleaning Dubai options, Urban Company’s page works differently, with fixed packages rather than a per-seat rate. It lists sofa deep cleaning from AED 49 for about 20 minutes, a sofa-cum-bed from AED 209, and a “Sadu sofa” from AED 69 with eight options. The page does not define the term, and we read it as Arabic-style seating, so confirm what it covers. It also does not say whether the AED 49 is per seat or per sofa, so confirm the unit.

Combination packages pair a sofa with a small carpet: a three-seater plus small carpet at AED 159 and a four-seater plus small carpet at AED 175, each shown with a second, higher figure on the page, so which price is current is unclear. A build-your-own package, including a one-seater, a 5 by 10 foot carpet and a single mattress, was shown at AED 240.

The page names dry vacuuming and foam-based shampooing with vacuuming as its sofa methods, and a separate leather procedure using a leather-specific chemical, leather polish and a sanitising chemical. It tells leather customers to wait 3 to 4 hours before use.

It gives no drying time for fabric or suede, lists no exclusions and states no warranty, but says to contact the company within 48 hours if anything is damaged after the service. It also says its products are eco-friendly and non-toxic and that professionals are verified and insured; we could not see the insurance terms. Steam is not listed as a sofa method on that page.

Justlife: size-based service with a quote

Justlife’s furniture page is a UAE-wide page, not a dedicated sofa cleaning Dubai page, and lists no prices, saying cost varies with the size and type of furniture. It names dry vacuuming, wet shampooing, steam cleaning, hot water extraction and targeted stain treatment for food, drink and ink.

What it does publish is approximate service time by size: about 15 minutes for a single seat, 30 for a three-seater, around 45 for an L-shaped three-seater or four-seater, 65 for a five-seater, 75 for an L-shaped five-seater and 90 for a seven-seater. Dining chairs are about 10 minutes each.

Justlife’s page promises “guaranteed satisfaction” without terms, and its FAQ recommends cleaning every 6 to 12 months, more often with pets or young children. It also gives a short preparation list that we build on later: clear the area, remove cushions and throws, mention problem stains and vacuum lightly beforehand. Those service-time figures are useful for an independent reason: they let you test whether a quoted time is plausible for your furniture, which the quote section turns into a worked calculation.

What the snapshot cannot tell you

Advertised sofa cleaning Dubai prices do not include what you actually need to know. None of the pages we read states a minimum charge, a surcharge for stairs or distance, whether VAT is included, what happens if a stain remains, or how many hours the crew will really spend.

Platforms such as ServiceMarket also say they assign a partner company, so the brand on the booking may not be the company at your door. Ask who the legal entity is, and keep reading: the “who does the work” section explains the checks.

The market also extends beyond booking platforms, to independent companies and add-on sofa options inside deep-clean packages, which is where the deep cleaning guide picks the thread up. We did not survey those, and we did not verify reviews on any platform, so nothing here is a statement about quality.

Know your sofa first: care code, fabric, filling and frame

Every sensible sofa cleaning Dubai conversation about method starts with three things: the care code, the cover fibre and what sits underneath. A cleaner who skips those questions is guessing, and a customer who cannot answer them is paying for the guess. The good news is that you can answer all three at home in a couple of minutes, without a moisture meter or any special knowledge.

Sofa cleaning Dubai guide: cross-section of a sofa cushion with cover, foam core and the W, S, WS and X care codes
What a cleaning method actually reaches: a sofa cushion in cross-section, with the four care codes. Depths are indicative, not measured.

The care code: four letters that decide what is allowed

Before any sofa cleaning Dubai booking, find the care code. Upholstery makers commonly print a one- or two-letter code on a tag, usually under a seat cushion or on the back of the base. Which? and American Leather, two sources that explain the codes to consumers, agree on three of them.

W means water-based cleaners and mild detergents are acceptable. S means solvent-based, water-free cleaners only, because water can leave rings or damage the fabric. WS (also written SW) means either type is acceptable, though you should still test on a hidden spot.

The fourth code is where sources disagree, and that matters. Which? reads X as vacuum only. American Leather reads X as professional cleaning only and tells owners not to attempt it at home. Both readings agree on the practical rule: do not apply liquid to an X fabric yourself.

Where they differ is whether a professional should be using any wet method at all, so on an X sofa the right question to the cleaner is “what exactly will you apply, and will you test it?” Confirm first with the retailer if you can.

Code on tag What the sources say What it means for a booking Say this when you ask for a quote
W Water-based cleaning is acceptable Shampoo and steam are both candidates, but rinse and drying still matter “The tag says W. Which method do you propose and why?”
S Solvent-based, water-free cleaning only Standard shampoo and steam are the wrong tools; this is a specialist spot or dry-clean style job “The tag says S. Do you use water-free products and can you do it on site?”
WS or SW Either water or solvent is acceptable Most flexible; the cleaner chooses by fabric and soil “The tag says WS. Please test a hidden area before you start.”
X Vacuum only (Which?) or professional only (American Leather) No liquid by a non-specialist; ask what will be applied and if it is tested “The tag says X. Have you cleaned X-coded fabric, and what will you use?”
No tag Not covered by the sources Treat as unknown: photograph the sofa, ask the retailer, test a hidden patch “There is no tag. How do you identify the fibre before you choose?”

Two caveats keep this sofa cleaning Dubai advice honest. The codes are guidance from the furniture trade, not a legal standard, and we could not verify which brands sold in Dubai use them consistently. Sofas imported from different markets may carry laundry-style symbols or no tag at all. And the code describes the cover fabric, not the whole sofa. A zip-off cover often has its own label, and the cushion inners and the frame have no code.

Fibres you are likely to own, and the way each tends to misbehave

Cover fibres are where a sofa cleaning Dubai job gains or loses its margin for error. Three of the cases below are backed by published manufacturer or consumer-body advice; the rest is general upholstery knowledge, which we flag as such.

Velvet is the one with the most documented sensitivities. Sofology’s care page for velvet warns against using too much water because it can damage the fabric, notes that normal use can flatten the pile and that regular vacuuming with a soft brush helps, and says velvet fades more easily in direct sunlight than many other fabrics.

Which? advises that if you steam velvet at all, you use the lowest setting and move against the direction of the fibre, and it suggests a professional for velvet that needs a deeper clean or has stubborn marks.

Leather is a family of finishes, not one material. Leather Naturally, the industry body, describes aniline leather as natural looking with no pigment, absorbing liquids easily; pigmented leather as having a protective coat that resists liquids; and nubuck and suede as sanded or split surfaces that breathe but absorb liquids.

It says to test any product on a hidden patch first, above all on aniline, which can darken, and on nubuck and suede, which can mark or change colour. It also advises against drying leather with a hairdryer, near a radiator or in direct sun.

Suede and nubuck deserve their own warning in a household with children. Which? lists eating or drinking on suede, and sitting on it in dark clothing that may transfer dye, among the things not to do. Dye transfer from dark denim is also a common cause of the stains that later prove permanent, which the stain section returns to.

For ordinary woven cottons, linens, polyester blends and microfibres, the published sources we read give no fibre-specific rules beyond the care code, so we do not invent any. As general upholstery knowledge, not a sourced finding: natural fibres tend to show water rings and can shrink if over-wetted, while synthetic microfibres tolerate more moisture but can show tide-marks if they dry unevenly. Faux leather coatings can crack with age, so ask the provider how they treat them.

Under the cover: foam, wadding, feathers and frame

What matters most for cleaning is what sits beneath the fabric, because it decides how long a sofa stays damp. As general upholstery knowledge, not a sourced finding, dense foam cores hold water, feather and fibre fills mat and clump when wet, and spring or webbing under the base can pick up moisture in a heavy-handed job.

ServiceMarket’s own note that drying “depends on the cleaning method and ventilation” is the polite version of that fact. A sofa cleaning Dubai crew that uses a light touch keeps moisture in the top layer, which is the point of the diagram above.

The frame is another reason to avoid soaking. Most sofa frames are wood or board, and persistent damp in a closed cushion cavity is the kind of condition that invites a musty smell. Mould is the failure that drives the drying advice later on, and it is far easier to prevent than to treat. If you suspect a hidden spill, pet accident or leak has reached the foam, tell the cleaner before they start, because the right approach changes.

Removable covers are not an invitation

If a cover unzips, check its own label before washing it. Covers can shrink, change shape or lose colour, and refitting a smaller cover onto a foam cushion is a bad evening. When in doubt, leave the cover on and ask the provider. We did not find a published Dubai provider rule on washing removable covers, so this one is a “confirm with the retailer or cleaner” item.

Sofa cleaning methods compared: vacuum, shampoo, steam, extraction and dry foam

Sofa cleaning Dubai booking pages tend to offer a binary choice, shampoo or steam, and the labels hide what is actually happening. Behind them sit several different mechanical processes, which differ mainly in how much liquid goes in, how much comes back out and how hot it is. Understanding the spectrum is what turns “which is better?” into the better question, “which is right for this fabric?”

Gauge from dry to wet ranking six upholstery cleaning methods, from dry vacuuming to hot water extraction, with risk notes
Six methods you may be quoted, arranged from least to most moisture. Positions are qualitative, based on how each method is described, not measured.

Dry vacuuming and brushing

Every method starts here, and for an X-coded fabric it may be all you are allowed. Vacuuming removes dust, lint, hair and grit before any liquid touches the fabric. That order matters, because liquid on top of grit becomes mud that gets worked into the weave.

Urban Company lists dry vacuuming of the front and back as the first step of its sofa routine, and Justlife recommends a light vacuum before the team arrives. You can do that part yourself, which is one reason the preparation section includes it.

Shampoo or foam cleaning

This is the cheaper sofa cleaning Dubai option on ServiceMarket’s page at AED 50 per seat. It works by applying a mild upholstery shampoo or foam, agitating it into the fabric, then extracting the loosened soil with a wet vacuum. Urban Company’s fabric process is similar, described as foam-based shampooing followed by vacuuming. The strengths are low heat and moderate moisture. The risks are residue if the product is not fully removed, which can attract soil again, and uneven wetting that dries into rings on delicate fabrics.

Steam cleaning, and what the word often means

ServiceMarket prices steam at AED 70 a seat on its page and says steam is generally more efficient against germs and bacteria. It also lists steam as appropriate for fragile fabrics and as able to dissolve residues such as wax, glue and chewing gum.

In sofa cleaning Dubai listings, as in the wider trade, “steam cleaning” often refers to hot water extraction, where heated water and solution are sprayed in and immediately vacuumed out, rather than a kettle-style handheld steamer. A ServiceMarket blog post describes professionals using “steam cleaners or extraction machines,” which supports that reading.

That distinction matters for two reasons. A pure steamer adds little water but a lot of heat, which is the main danger for velvet, heat-sensitive synthetics and glued trims. Hot water extraction adds more water and relies on the machine pulling it back, which is the main danger for thick foam. Which? is blunt on the consumer side: steam only if the label carries W or WS, test the steamer on a hidden patch first, use the lowest setting on velvet, and do not speed drying with heat.

Hot water extraction, dry compounds and solvents

Justlife lists hot water extraction as a method alongside wet shampooing, steam and targeted stain removal. It is the most thorough way to rinse a fabric, and the one that most demands good extraction and ventilation afterwards. Other trade methods exist, including low-moisture dry compounds and water-free solvent cleaning for S-coded fabrics. We did not see dry-compound cleaning on the three pages we read, so we mention it only so you recognise the term if a smaller company offers it.

Solvent cleaning is the correct route for an S code. American Leather says to use only water-free solvent cleaners on those fabrics and to ventilate the room, because solvents can be toxic. That has a practical consequence in a sealed, air-conditioned Dubai apartment: ask what product will be used, open the balcony door if the building allows, and keep children and pets out until the smell clears.

Leather is a different job

Urban Company describes a distinct leather routine with a leather-specific chemical, a polish and a sanitising product, and gives a 3 to 4 hour wait before use. Anything resembling a full fabric shampoo is wrong for leather, and that is a question worth asking in plain words: “do you use the same process for leather as for fabric?” Leather Naturally advises testing on a hidden patch, particularly for aniline leather, and warns against too much water.

Your situation Method worth asking about Key question for the provider
Routine freshen-up, tag says W or WS, sturdy weave Foam or shampoo cleaning with wet vacuum “How will you limit moisture in the cushions?”
Heavy soil, pets or children, tag W or WS Hot water extraction or steam “Is this a handheld steamer or an extraction machine?”
Velvet, any code Light-touch method with a hidden-patch test “What setting and which direction do you work in?”
Tag says S Water-free solvent cleaning “What product, and how do you ventilate?”
Tag says X, or no tag Vacuum and spot test only until the fabric is identified “How do you identify the fibre before choosing?”
Leather or faux leather Leather-specific cleaner and conditioner “Is the process different from fabric, and tested first?”

That table is a sofa cleaning Dubai decision aid built from the sources above, not a prescription. A good provider will inspect the sofa and may override a row, and you should let them if they can explain why. What you are listening for is a reason, not a sales line. “Steam is better” is a pitch. “Your velvet needs a low-heat method, so we will use shampoo and a light extraction” is a reason.

Drying time in Dubai: what to expect and how to shorten it

Drying time is the number sofa cleaning Dubai providers publish least and customers need most. Of the three booking pages we read, only ServiceMarket gives a general figure: drying “usually takes around 4 to 6 hours”, depending on method and ventilation, with a typical service time of 1 to 2 hours.

Urban Company gives one number, 3 to 4 hours, and only for leather. Justlife gives none. So the honest planning range for a sofa cleaning Dubai booking on fabric is the ServiceMarket one, and it is a vendor’s estimate rather than a measured result.

Sofa cleaning Dubai drying clock: a 24-hour ring showing a fabric sofa usable from 21:00 to 23:00 after a 17:00 finish
Illustrative drying clock for a visit that ends at 17:00, built on ServiceMarket’s stated 4 to 6 hours and the EPA’s 24 to 48 hour mould window. The scenario is invented to show the arithmetic.

Why the steam claim and the drying figure both appear on the same page

ServiceMarket says steam cleaning avoids the wait for the sofa to dry, while also saying drying takes 4 to 6 hours depending on method. The reconciliation is probably that a steamer adds less water than a wet shampoo, so the sofa is usable sooner and fully dry later.

That is our reading, not the company’s statement. For planning, read “need not wait” as “sit on it if you must” and treat the 4 to 6 hours as the time until a thick cushion has probably stopped feeling cool and damp in the middle.

What really sets drying time after any sofa cleaning Dubai visit is not the label but four variables: how much liquid went in, how much the extractor pulled back out, how thick the foam is, and how well air moves around the cushions.

A thin dining chair pad dries in a fraction of the time of a deep corner-sofa seat. A sofa pushed flat against a wall dries more slowly than one with a gap behind it. A cover treated with a lot of foam dries slower than one treated sparingly.

Dubai specifics: air conditioning, humidity and open windows

Outdoors, Dubai summers are humid. The National Centre of Meteorology’s outlook for August 2025, as reported by Gulf News, put average relative humidity at 72 per cent across the UAE.

That is the national forecast rather than a Dubai-specific reading, and it is from last year, but it is enough to make the point: warm, wet air is a poor drying partner. Opening the windows in August to dry a sofa can bring in more moisture than it removes, which is our reading of those numbers, not a measured test.

Indoors, the air conditioning does most of the useful work, because cooling coils remove moisture from the air as well as heat. The practical advice is to leave the AC running, keep doors and balcony closed in peak summer, and add a fan to move air across the cushions. In the cooler months the balance can tip towards open windows, but we did not source Dubai winter humidity, so judge by feel and, better, by a cheap hygrometer.

The reason to care about numbers is that the humidity guidance is consistent across sources. The US Environmental Protection Agency advises keeping indoor relative humidity below 60 per cent, ideally between 30 and 50 per cent.

National Jewish Health, writing about dust mites, says 30 to 40 per cent is ideal, that 40 to 50 per cent is only marginal, and that above 60 per cent mite problems get worse. Both are US general guidance rather than Dubai rules, but the physics of damp foam does not change at the border.

A sensible schedule, worked through

Illustrative example (not a quote or a market fact): the crew finishes at 17:00. Using ServiceMarket’s range, the sofa is probably dry enough to sit on between 21:00 and 23:00. If you plan a dinner for 19:00, you have a conflict. If you book the slot for 13:00 instead, the crew finishes around 15:00 for a typical home and the sofa is ready by evening. Our calculation: 17:00 plus 4 hours is 21:00, and plus 6 hours is 23:00.

Plan more slack for a sofa cleaning Dubai job on a deep sectional, a heavily soiled sofa that needed repeated passes, or in a room with poor airflow. A conservative approach to sofa cleaning Dubai scheduling is to assume the sofa will not be fully dry before the next morning, and to avoid putting the covers or throws back until then.

The EPA says the point of drying wet items within 24 to 48 hours is that mould will usually not grow if they dry in that window, so that is the outer limit at which a damp sofa becomes a problem.

How to shorten the wait without ruining the fabric

  • Stand cushions on their edges so air reaches both faces, and leave a gap between the sofa and the wall.
  • Keep the AC on and add a fan pointed across the cushions, not directly at one patch.
  • Use a dehumidifier if you own one; National Jewish Health lists dehumidifiers and air conditioners as ways to lower humidity.
  • Do not use a hairdryer, heater or direct sun. Which? and Leather Naturally both warn against heat for drying.
  • Do not cover the sofa with plastic, throws or fitted covers until it is dry to the touch in the thickest cushion.

A simple dryness test is to press a dry paper towel into the thickest part of a seat cushion for ten seconds. If it comes away damp or cooler than the room, give it more time. That is a practical check, not a laboratory one. If the sofa still feels wet at the 24-hour mark, or smells musty, call the provider; whether they offer a return visit is a term to ask about before you book, because none of the three pages states it.

Heat and sun. Dubai sun can make a balcony tempting as a drying room for cushions. Sofology warns that velvet fades more easily in direct sunlight, American Leather recommends keeping furniture out of direct sun, and Leather Naturally says not to dry leather in direct sun. Bring cushions in out of the glare, and dry them in shade with airflow.

Stain limits: what professional cleaning can and cannot remove

No sofa cleaning Dubai provider we read publishes a stain-removal success rate, and that silence is informative. Cleaning outcomes depend on the fibre, the age of the mark, what caused it and what has already been tried on it. What can be said honestly is where stains tend to sit on a scale from “usually lifts” to “rarely lifts”. The scale below is our reading of the consumer and trade sources plus general upholstery knowledge, not a measured recovery chart.

Four-step scale from usually lifts to rarely lifts placing common sofa stains such as juice, grease, ink and sun fade
A stain-limit scale for sofa fabric: our reading of consumer and trade advice, not a success-rate chart. Results vary with fibre, age of stain and prior treatment.

Stains that usually lift

Fresh, water-based marks are the best case: tea, juice, soft drinks, muddy shoe prints, general food residue, body oils on armrests and the greyed look of years of dust. Justlife lists targeted stain removal for food, drink and ink among its methods, and ServiceMarket says its shampoo removes “old stains and dirt”. For this class of soil on a W or WS fabric, a sofa cleaning Dubai visit is a reasonable bet, and often the highlight of the visit is how much dirt the extractor pulls out.

Smells belong in this group when they sit in the surface fibres. Which? suggests baking soda left overnight and then vacuumed for mild odour, and says enzyme cleaners work well when the source is organic, with pet urine as the example. Smell that has soaked through the fabric into the foam is a harder problem, because the cleaner can only reach the top layers; a professional should be told if an accident was large, or recurred in one spot.

Stains that sometimes lift, and sometimes only lighten

Grease and cooking oil, coffee and tea that have dried, red wine that was not blotted, pet marks that were not treated fast, and cosmetics all land in the middle. They respond to the right chemistry, applied quickly, on a fabric that tolerates it.

ServiceMarket’s help article says steam can dissolve wax, glue and chewing gum, which is the kind of sticky residue that often defeats a home attempt. These are the stains worth photographing before the visit and pointing out to the technician, because the best method depends on knowing what the mark is.

Ink is a good example of a stain that can fall on either side of the line. Justlife lists ink among stains it targets, but ballpoint on a pale cotton is a very different job from marker pen on a velvet arm. A fair provider will tell you which it is when they see the sofa, and a good one will say “partial lift” in advance rather than discovering it afterwards.

Stains that rarely lift: the real limits

Sun fade is a change in the dye, not a deposit on the fabric, and no sofa cleaning Dubai process restores it. American Leather recommends rotating and flipping cushions to even out wear and reduce fading, and keeping furniture out of direct sunlight or behind curtains. Bleach marks, burns, cigarette holes and pulled threads are damage, not dirt. Pile crush on velvet may improve with brushing and vacuuming, as Sofology suggests, but a deeply flattened patch often stays visible.

Dye transfer deserves its own line because it is the stain people blame on the cleaner. Which? warns against sitting on suede in dark clothing that may transfer dye, and the same logic applies to dark denim on a pale fabric.

Once dye has bonded with the fibre, cleaning may lighten it, but it rarely removes it. Water rings on velvet and other sensitive fabrics can also be created by cleaning if moisture is applied unevenly, which is why Sofology advises wiping a whole panel seam to seam rather than spotting.

First aid before the cleaners arrive

The best thing you can do for a fresh spill is blot it, not rub it. American Leather’s advice is to blot immediately with a clean dry cloth and not rub; Which? says to dab with a little warm water and mild detergent on fabrics that allow it, and warns that scrubbing damages fabric. Test any product on a hidden spot first. If the fabric is X-coded, S-coded, velvet, suede or aniline leather, stop at blotting and wait for the professional.

What to avoid is as important. Do not mix cleaning products, and never combine household bleach with other cleaners. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that bleach can release chlorine gas when mixed with certain other products. Do not saturate the spot, do not apply heat, and do not pre-treat with several different products in sequence, because that makes it harder for the cleaner to know what chemistry they are dealing with.

What to tell the technician. For every stain, say what caused it, roughly when, and what you have already put on it. Ask them to tell you before they start which stains they think will lift, which will lighten and which will stay. Take a dated “before” photo of each. That conversation takes two minutes and removes most of the argument that otherwise follows a visit.

Fabric protectors and what a sofa cleaning Dubai provider promises

Fabric protectors, the repellent coatings applied after cleaning, are part of what the IICRC’s upholstery standard covers, alongside inspections, cleaning methods and spot removal. A ServiceMarket blog post mentions cleaners may apply fabric sealants or stain guards to resist future stains.

We did not find a sofa cleaning Dubai provider that states what its protector is, how long it lasts or what it costs, so treat it as an upsell to question. Ask for the product name, whether it changes the feel or colour, and whether it must be reapplied after each clean.

Sofa cleaning Dubai quotes: how to read a price and compare two of them

The per-seat price in sofa cleaning Dubai listings is a pricing convention, not a measurement of work. A seat on a three-seater is easy to count, but what counts as a seat on a chaise, an L-shaped corner, a footstool or an armchair with a loose back cushion is up to each provider.

ServiceMarket’s help article says cushion cleaning is included, with one cushion cleaned per seat. Urban Company prices by sofa type and size, and Justlife by size and type. None of the three sofa cleaning Dubai pages uses the same unit, so a headline number is only the start of a comparison.

Illustrative sofa quote on an L-shaped sofa: nine seats, AED 490 before VAT, AED 514.50 total and five terms to confirm
Anatomy of an illustrative sofa quote: seats counted on a corner sofa, a two-seater and two armchairs, priced at ServiceMarket’s advertised per-seat rates as a yardstick. Not a quote or a market price.

What a complete sofa cleaning Dubai quote should state

A useful sofa cleaning Dubai quote is short but specific. Before you accept one, make sure it lists the following in writing, even if the “writing” is a WhatsApp message.

  • Each item to be cleaned and the seat count the price is based on.
  • The method for each item (shampoo, steam, extraction, solvent, leather process) and why.
  • Whether VAT is included, and the total you will actually pay.
  • Any minimum charge, travel or access surcharge, and add-ons such as protector or deodoriser.
  • The estimated visit time and the number of technicians.
  • What happens if a stain remains, and the window for reporting damage.
  • The legal name of the company that will do the work.

None of the three pages we read states VAT treatment or a minimum charge for sofa cleaning Dubai bookings, so ask. The UAE standard VAT rate is 5 per cent according to the Federal Tax Authority; we use that rate in the arithmetic below, but check whether the provider’s number already includes it.

Illustrative example: a worked sofa cleaning Dubai quote for one household

Illustrative example (not a quote or market fact): a household has an L-shaped corner sofa with five seats, a two-seater and two armchairs, plus six dining chairs. Count the sofas and armchairs only: 5 + 2 + 2 = 9 seats. At ServiceMarket’s advertised per-seat rates as a yardstick, our calculation is 9 × AED 50 = AED 450 for shampoo, or 9 × AED 70 = AED 630 for steam. Adding 5 per cent VAT, if it is not already included, gives AED 472.50 and AED 661.50.

Now suppose the two-seater is velvet, and the cleaner recommends steam only there and shampoo elsewhere. Our calculation: 2 × AED 70 + 7 × AED 50 = AED 140 + AED 350 = AED 490, or AED 514.50 with VAT. At the fixed peg of 3.6725 dirhams per US dollar, that is about USD 140.

If the provider counts the six dining chairs as six extra seats at the shampoo rate, add AED 300, taking the all-seat shampoo total to AED 750 before VAT. The difference between “dining chairs included” and “dining chairs extra” can exceed the difference between two providers.

Time is the second check. Using Justlife’s published service times, our calculation for the same furniture is 75 minutes for the L-shaped five-seater, 30 for a two-seater (using the three-seater time as a proxy), 15 each for two single seats, and 10 each for six dining chairs.

That sums to 195 minutes, or 3 hours 15 minutes. If a provider quotes 45 minutes for the whole job, either it is a very small crew or something is being skipped. Treat that as a question to ask, not as an accusation.

Comparing two quotes fairly

Illustrative example (not a quote or market fact): Provider A quotes AED 450 plus VAT for nine seats of shampoo cleaning, one technician, about two hours. Provider B quotes AED 520 all-in for the same nine seats, steam on the velvet two-seater, two technicians, about 90 minutes, a 48-hour damage window and a written note about the velvet.

A’s total is AED 472.50 if VAT is added at 5 per cent. B costs AED 47.50 more, and covers a method decision and a damage window that A did not mention.

The right way to compare two sofa cleaning Dubai quotes is therefore total price divided by seats, then the non-price terms. On the figures above, A is AED 52.50 a seat and B is about AED 57.78 a seat. Whether B’s extra AED 5.28 a seat is worth it depends on the sofa. For a sturdy cotton sofa it might not be. For velvet, where a method decision matters, it might be.

Very low prices deserve a question

If a quote is far below the advertised per-seat prices on the big platforms, ask what has been left out: fewer minutes, weaker extraction, no vacuuming first, or an add-on charged later. There may be a good answer, such as a smaller sofa or a bundled visit. There may not. The point is to ask before the crew arrives, not after the sofa is wet.

Yearly cost for a sofa cleaning Dubai household: our calculation

Both ServiceMarket and Justlife suggest professional cleaning every 6 to 12 months. For the nine-seat household above at AED 490, once a year is AED 490, and twice a year is AED 980, before VAT. That is a budgeting figure, not a market claim. Households with young children or pets may sit nearer the shorter interval, and households that rarely use the living room may stretch it. Cleaning more often is not automatically better, because every wet cleaning ages the fabric a little.

Payment, invoices and the sofa cleaning Dubai paper trail

ServiceMarket says your card is charged only after the service is delivered, with cash to the professional also accepted, and that changes or cancellations are allowed up to 24 hours before. Urban Company says payment is online through its app or website.

Whichever route you use, ask for an invoice. The UAE government portal says an invoice must be dated and show the supplier’s trade name and address, the type of goods or service, the price and the quantity, and that it must be in Arabic with other languages optional.

Who does the work: licences, labour rules, products and your rights

Sofa cleaning Dubai bookings sound low-risk, but they bring strangers and chemicals into your home. The right checks are modest and take ten minutes. This section covers what we could verify, what we could not, and the questions that follow. The wider question of choosing a home cleaning company, with licensing and insurance in detail, lives in our cleaning services guide, and we keep this section to the sofa-relevant parts.

The company, its licence and who is at the door

For any sofa cleaning Dubai booking, ask for the trade name and licence number of the company doing the work, not just the brand on the app. ServiceMarket’s page says Service Souk FZCO is licensed by the Dubai Health Authority under licence number 8357061 and that it works with licensed and reviewed companies.

We could not establish what that health-authority licence covers for a cleaning job, and a health licence is not the same as a trade licence for cleaning. Confirm first by asking for the trade licence of the partner company assigned to you.

We also could not verify the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism screens for looking up a licence, because the official pages did not load for our research. Our cleaning services guide reports the same limitation. The sensible approach is to ask the company for the licence number and look it up yourself on the official DET service, rather than relying on a platform’s statement. We found no sofa-specific licensing rule in any official source.

Labour rules matter if you hire an individual

If a person offers to clean your sofa privately, find out who employs them. In December 2023 the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation said it had blocked the files of 153 employers whose domestic workers were found working for others, denying them new permits and referring them to the Public Prosecution, where fines of up to AED 50,000 may apply.

The legal basis is Federal Decree-Law No. 9 of 2022 on domestic workers. MOHRE’s advice was to deal only with licensed recruitment agencies, and its call-centre number for reporting problems is 600590000.

The practical lesson is for the household, not the cleaner: employing a domestic worker who is not entitled to work for you creates risk for the employer. A company crew, properly licensed, avoids that issue, and a quote that arrives with a licence number, a legal name and an invoice is easier to defend than a cash job from an app contact. Our legal basics for residents guide points to where rules like these are verified.

Products: what “Municipality-approved” can and cannot mean

ServiceMarket says its cleaning products are Municipality-approved and safe for children and pets, and Urban Company says its products are eco-friendly and non-toxic. Dubai Municipality does regulate detergent products. Its technical guideline defines a detergent as any substance containing soaps or surfactants intended for washing and cleaning, covers household products, professional and industrial ones and food-area cleaners, and requires registration before a product is manufactured, imported, advertised, sold or distributed in Dubai. The registration dossier includes a safety data sheet and lasts five years.

So a registered product is a real concept. What we cannot see from a booking page is whether a given company’s product is registered, and “safe for children and pets” is a marketing claim rather than a regulatory category.

The sensible test is to ask for the product name and its safety data sheet, and to read the hazard line. Dubai Municipality also publishes a list of approved professional-use biocides, but the version we read was issued in December 2022, so treat any current check as one to run against the live list.

Your consumer rights, in plain terms

The UAE government portal says consumers are entitled to fair compensation for damage from defective goods or inadequate or unprofessional services, under Federal Decree-Law No. 5 of 2023, and that suppliers must settle disputes promptly. Complaints go to the Ministry of Economy on 800 1222 or through its online service, or in Dubai through the consumerrights.ae service. The page states no deadline for complaints, but providers do: Urban Company says to contact it within 48 hours if anything is damaged after the service, so use that window.

Photographs are your evidence in any sofa cleaning Dubai dispute. Take dated pictures of the sofa before and after, and report any damage the same day through the booking channel, not only by phone. Check your own home contents policy for accidental-damage terms before you need them; our Dubai insurance guide explains how to compare policies, but we cannot say what yours covers. A claim against a cleaner and a claim on your insurer are separate routes, and the second is not a substitute for choosing the first well.

In-home preparation: the day before, the visit and the night after

Preparation is the cheapest part of any sofa cleaning Dubai job and the one that most improves the result. It costs nothing but twenty minutes, and it shifts three things in your favour: the cleaner starts on a sofa that is free of loose soil, the team knows what to avoid, and you have a record if something goes wrong. Justlife’s own FAQ gives a short list. This is the longer version.

Living room plan with seven numbered steps for a sofa cleaning Dubai visit, from tag photo to airflow during drying
A preparation walk-through drawn on a living-room plan: seven steps from the day before to the night after. Our checklist, built from provider guidance and the sources cited in the text.

The day before

  1. Photograph the tag and the sofa. Lift a seat cushion, photograph the care code, then photograph each stain, worn patch and faded area in daylight. These are your “before” images and your quote request in one.
  2. Count what needs cleaning. Seats, armchairs, footstools, loose back cushions, dining chairs. Decide what is in scope and say so in the booking; a per-seat price is only meaningful once you agree the seat count.
  3. Vacuum lightly. Justlife recommends a light vacuum beforehand. Use the brush attachment, go over seams and under cushions, and stop there. Heavy home attempts at wet cleaning make the professional’s job harder.
  4. Clear the area. Take off cushion covers only if the tag allows, remove throws, toys and decor, and lift small tables and rugs out of the working zone. ServiceMarket says its team moves furniture, but a clear path saves time and protects floors.
  5. Plan for children and pets. Decide where they will be during the visit and for the drying period. Wet upholstery and cleaning products are not a place for a crawling baby or a curious cat.
  6. Check the building. Ask building management or the community office about contractor access, lift booking, parking and working hours. These rules vary by building, and we found no central Dubai rule to cite, so confirm first.

The visit

For a sofa cleaning Dubai visit, meet the team at the sofa, not at the door. Show them the tag photo, point out every stain and say what caused it and what you have already tried. Ask which method they will use for each item and why, and ask them to test a hidden area first if the fabric is velvet, delicate, unlabelled or dark.

ServiceMarket says its teams survey the sofas on the day to choose the cleaning option, and Which? says to test steam on a hidden patch, so the request is consistent with provider practice.

You do not need to stand over the work for two hours, but you should be there at the start and at the end. Ask them to explain anything that changes the quote, such as an unexpected stain, a recliner mechanism or a fabric that cannot take steam, before they begin. If they use a solvent, ask for the product name, ventilate the room and keep children and pets out. American Leather notes that solvents can be toxic and recommends ventilation and gloves.

Ask for a short walkthrough at the end: which stains came out, which lightened, which remain, and any areas where the fabric reacted unexpectedly. This is the moment to take your “after” photographs, in the same light as the “before” ones. Reported the same day, problems are far easier to resolve than reported a week later, and Urban Company’s own window is 48 hours.

The night after

  • Keep the AC on, add a fan across the cushions and leave a gap between sofa and wall.
  • Do not sit on the seats or replace covers until the thickest cushion feels dry. Use the paper-towel test from the drying section.
  • Keep children and pets off the sofa until it is dry and any product smell has cleared.
  • Do not put the cushions in direct sun or in front of a heater.
  • Check the sofa again the next morning for damp patches, tide-marks or a musty smell, and report anything the same day.

If the clean is for a gathering, book it at least a day ahead, so the sofa is dry and the smell has gone; our Dubai etiquette guide covers hosting customs.

Do not mix anything yourself. It is tempting to follow the visit with a spray of your own. Do not combine cleaners, and never mix household bleach with other products. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that bleach can release chlorine gas when mixed with certain other cleaning products, with symptoms including burning eyes, nose and throat, coughing and chest tightness. If that happens, leave the area for fresh air.

Questions for your sofa cleaning Dubai booking

You can paste these into a booking message. They are written to get specific answers, not to catch anybody out.

  • Which method will you use on each item, given the care code, and will you test a hidden area first?
  • How many seats is this quote based on, and what is the total including VAT?
  • Are there minimum charges, access fees or add-ons I should know about?
  • How long will the visit take, and how many technicians will come?
  • What products will you use, and can I see the safety data sheet?
  • If a stain remains or something is damaged, what is the process and the deadline to report it?
  • Which company legally performs the service, and what is its trade licence number?

Seven Dubai situations: move-out, toddlers, pets, majlis seating and more

General guidance only goes so far. These seven sofa cleaning Dubai situations come up in households often enough to be worth working through, using the sources above. They are scenarios built from published information, not case studies from people we spoke to, and none of them is an account of something that happened to us.

1. A furnished rental at move-out

If the sofa belongs to the landlord, the question at handover is whether a stain is damage or normal wear. The Dubai Land Department’s FAQ says a landlord may require a security deposit, that the tenant pays any excess when repairs cost more than the deposit whether the damage was intentional or accidental, and that minor wear from everyday use is not the tenant’s burden. It also advises proving the property’s condition at handover with both parties present. Photograph the sofa on arrival and again on exit.

Whether a professional sofa cleaning Dubai visit is expected at handover is a matter for the tenancy contract, not a general rule, and the DLD page has no text on furnished units. Read the contract clause, ask the landlord or agent in writing, and keep the invoice if you clean. Our guides on tenant rights in Dubai, renting in Dubai and DEWA move-out cover the surrounding steps, and the apartment viewing checklist is where a sofa photo habit begins. Villa tenants usually have more upholstery to document, and our villa renting guide covers the move-in inspection.

2. A second-hand sofa bought on arrival

New arrivals often furnish a flat from classifieds. A second-hand sofa is a reasonable candidate for a first-day sofa cleaning Dubai booking, but a clean is not a pest treatment.

If you see signs of insects, that is a pest-control problem, and Dubai Municipality’s FAQ lists general pest problems among the issues it takes complaints about, through a toll-free line, 800 900, and other channels. Check seams and under the cushions before you pay. Our moving to Dubai and home setup guides help sequence furniture, utilities and the first week.

Clean first, then fit a protector if you want one, and only then put it into regular use. Ask the seller about smoke, pets and previous spills; those answers change the method. A sofa that smells of smoke or pets may need more than one pass, and if the odour sits in the foam, the honest answer is sometimes that the cushion cores need replacing, not cleaning.

3. Toddlers and babies

Children are the main driver of sofa soil: juice, milk, food, crayon and the occasional nappy leak. For a household in that phase, a sofa cleaning Dubai interval at the short end of the 6 to 12 month range is sensible, which is what Justlife suggests for homes with young children.

Time the visit for nap-free hours, keep little ones out of the room until the sofa is dry, and ask for gentle products. Our guides to family logistics in Dubai and Dubai with a baby cover the wider household routine.

Plan for the practical side as well. A damp sofa is not a play surface, and a freshly cleaned one invites the first spill within the week. A protector, if the provider offers one, may help, but see the question list above first. Wipeable throws and washable covers are not a substitute for cleaning, but they are cheaper to replace than upholstery.

4. Pets

Pet hair is a vacuuming problem for sofa cleaning Dubai households with animals. Pet urine is a different one, because it can pass through the fabric into the foam. Which? says enzyme cleaners work well when the source is organic, such as pet urine, but a home enzyme spray is limited in how deep it can go.

Tell the cleaner about every accident and where it happened; if a spot has been used repeatedly, say so, since the right approach may be different. Our pet ownership guide covers the household side.

Keep pets out of the room until the sofa is dry and the smell has cleared. That is our practical suggestion, not a veterinary one, and for any concern about a specific product, ask the provider for the safety data sheet and your vet for advice.

5. Majlis and floor-style seating

Many Gulf homes use large floor-level seating arrangements with a lot of cushions, which turns a sofa cleaning Dubai per-seat price into a counting problem. Urban Company lists a “Sadu sofa” package from AED 69 with eight options, but does not define the term, so we cannot say what it covers.

Ask for the cushion count, whether back cushions and bolsters are included, and how the provider prices a run of seating that is one continuous piece. A long run of floor seating does not behave like a three-seater, and a quote should reflect that.

Decorative fabrics deserve extra caution. As general upholstery knowledge, not a sourced finding, embroidery, metallic thread, tassels and glued trims can be damaged by heat and moisture. Ask the cleaner to test a hidden area, and agree up front that you will not hold them responsible for pre-existing damage they flagged. Drying space is the other issue: a room full of damp floor cushions needs airflow, so plan which cushions go where.

6. Leather and faux leather

Leather needs a different sofa cleaning Dubai conversation. Leather Naturally distinguishes aniline, which absorbs liquids easily and can darken, from pigmented leather with a protective coat. Urban Company describes a distinct leather routine with a leather-specific cleaner, polish and sanitiser and a 3 to 4 hour wait. Which? advises conditioning leather every six to 12 months and keeping it away from heat and sharp objects such as keys and pet claws.

Ask the provider how they identify the finish before cleaning, and be wary of any process that sounds like a general fabric shampoo. For faux leather, the sources we read do not give specific guidance, so ask the retailer. As general knowledge, not a sourced finding, the surface coating on bonded or imitation leather can crack or peel with age, and no cleaning can restore it.

7. A household with allergies

National Jewish Health says dust mites live in bedding, carpets and stuffed furniture, that upholstered furniture is a favoured spot, and that wood, leather or vinyl furniture is a better choice. It lists an ideal indoor humidity of 30 to 40 per cent.

It also advises that the allergic person leave the room while vacuuming, since stirring up dust can expose them to mites and droppings. ServiceMarket says its teams vacuum first to remove dust and mites, so it is a sensible request to schedule the sofa cleaning Dubai visit when the allergic person is out.

Cleaning a sofa does not treat an allergy, and we are not offering medical advice. If symptoms are significant, a doctor is the right route; see our healthcare guide for how to find one. A clean, a dehumidified room and a hard-surfaced sofa are changes a household can make, but only a doctor can tell you what matters for your own case.

Between cleans: care for a dusty, sunny, air-conditioned city

A professional clean resets the sofa, and the routine between sofa cleaning Dubai visits decides how long that lasts. Most of the useful advice is dull and cheap. Vacuum regularly so dirt does not embed, which both Which? and American Leather say. Blot spills at once instead of rubbing. Rotate and flip cushions so wear is spread and sun fade is reduced. None of this needs a product, only a habit.

Sun, glass and the Dubai window

Sunlight is the slow stain that no sofa cleaning Dubai provider can undo. American Leather advises keeping furniture out of direct sun or using curtains, Sofology says velvet fades more easily in direct light, and Leather Naturally says not to dry leather in direct sun. In a city where many sofas sit in front of floor-to-ceiling glazing, the useful step is blinds or sheer curtains during the brightest hours, and a quarterly swap of cushion positions.

Humidity and the AC habit

The EPA suggests keeping indoor humidity below 60 per cent, ideally 30 to 50 per cent, and says a basic meter from a hardware store can measure it. National Jewish Health links lower humidity with fewer dust mites. Most Dubai homes lean on air conditioning, which helps, but a flat that is closed up for weeks, or a villa with a wet-room leak, can still run damp. A small hygrometer on the living-room shelf answers the question for the price of a coffee-shop lunch, though prices vary.

Dust, pets and a quick weekly rhythm

We do not have a Dubai-specific dust measurement to cite, so we will not give one. What we can say from the sources is that upholstered furniture holds dust and mites, and that a vacuum with a brush attachment along the seams is the standard answer. For a household with pets, the same vacuum pass should go under the cushions, where hair and dander collect.

  • Weekly: vacuum seat surfaces and seams; fluff and rotate loose cushions.
  • Monthly: vacuum under cushions and along the frame; check the room’s humidity if you own a hygrometer.
  • Every 6 to 12 months: professional sofa cleaning Dubai visit, sooner with children or pets (Justlife and ServiceMarket).
  • Every 6 to 12 months for leather: conditioner, as Which? advises.
  • Always: blot spills, avoid dark denim on pale fabric, and keep drinks off suede.

The basics for that routine, baking soda included, are everyday supermarket items; our Dubai supermarket guide covers where to shop and delivery options. That rhythm is a suggestion built from the cited sources, not a standard. Adjust it to your own sofa, your own household and the time you actually have.

DIY, a professional, or a new sofa: a decision guide

Not every dirty sofa needs a sofa cleaning Dubai booking. A fresh spill on a W or WS fabric is a DIY job if you blot, test and stay gentle. A general freshen-up on a sturdy fabric is a fair job for a sofa cleaning Dubai professional. A sofa with deep damage, a persistent smell in the foam or a collapsed frame may be past the point where cleaning makes sense. The cards below summarise the logic.

Usually fine to do yourself

A fresh, small spill on a fabric coded W or WS. Light vacuuming and brushing. Wiping hard-finish leather with a barely damp cloth, after a hidden-patch test. Mild odours treated with baking soda and a vacuum, as Which? suggests.

Worth a professional

Velvet, suede, aniline leather, S or X codes, a whole-sofa freshen-up, pet or child accidents that may have reached the foam, a handover clean for a landlord, or any case where you would not know what the stain is.

Think about replacing or repairing

Odour that stays after a competent clean, sagging or broken foam, a damaged frame, peeling coatings on imitation leather, or fade that bothers you more than the dirt ever did. Cleaning cannot repair these.

What about renting a machine?

Which? mentions rented carpet, steam or ozone machines as an option for stubborn odours. We did not find Dubai-specific pricing or availability for such rentals, so we cannot compare them with a sofa cleaning Dubai professional visit. The risks are the same as in any wet process: too much moisture, residue left in the fabric, heat on a delicate fibre and a long drying time. If you do try it, follow the care code, test first and plan the drying as carefully as the cleaning.

The cost logic, in one paragraph

Our calculation from the earlier example: a sofa cleaning Dubai visit at AED 490 for a nine-seat household is cheap next to the cost of replacing a sofa set, and expensive next to a vacuum and a fresh throw. The honest answer depends on the sofa.

A well-made sofa with a good frame is worth cleaning for years. A cheap flat-pack sofa on its last legs may not be. For broader budgeting around housing and household costs, our cost of living in Dubai guide puts one-off household spending in context, and our Dubai shopping guide helps if replacement turns out to be the better answer.

Mistakes that cost the most

These are the sofa cleaning Dubai errors that turn a straightforward clean into a stained cushion, a wasted morning or a dispute. They are drawn from the advice in the sources above, so they are risks worth designing around, not tales of what happened to anyone.

Before you book

The first sofa cleaning Dubai mistake is booking before reading the tag. Without the care code, you cannot judge whether the recommended method is safe, and the cleaner has less to go on too. The second is comparing headline per-seat numbers without checking what a seat means, whether VAT is included and what extras are charged. The third is accepting a vague description of the product. “Municipality-approved” is a claim, and a product name and safety data sheet are the evidence.

On the day

Steam on velvet or on a fabric without a W or WS code is the single most avoidable error, and Which? is explicit about it. Skipping the hidden-area test is close behind. Another is leaving the team to guess about stains that you know the cause of. A fourth is booking a morning slot on the day of a dinner, then discovering in the afternoon that the sofa is still damp.

After the visit

Speeding the drying with a hairdryer, heater or direct sun is a common mistake, and both Which? and Leather Naturally advise against it. Putting covers or throws back on a damp cushion traps moisture. Spraying a home product on top of a freshly cleaned patch, particularly bleach, can create a safety problem and may make a stain harder to treat. Forgetting to photograph the result, or waiting beyond the provider’s reporting window, leaves you without a case.

With money and expectations

The costliest expectation error in sofa cleaning Dubai bookings is treating cleaning as a repair. It will not fix sun fade, dye transfer, burns or a collapsed cushion. The second is paying a deposit or the full price before you understand what happens if a stain stays.

The third is assuming the cheapest quote is the best value, or that the most expensive is automatically more careful. Neither is a safe assumption, and our reading of the pages is that none of the three publishes performance data that would settle it.

One-line rule. Read the tag, count the seats, agree the method, photograph before and after, and give the sofa a full evening to dry. If you do only those five things, your sofa cleaning Dubai booking avoids most of the mistakes above.

Sofa cleaning Dubai FAQ

How much does sofa cleaning cost in Dubai?

Sofa cleaning Dubai prices on 29 October 2026 looked like this: ServiceMarket advertised AED 50 per seat for shampoo and AED 70 per seat for steam, while a blog post on its site listed steam at AED 75 per seat.

Urban Company listed sofa deep cleaning from AED 49, with packages by sofa type, and Justlife prices by size and type on quote. These are advertised prices, not totals, and none of the three pages states VAT or a minimum charge. Ask for the total in writing before you book.

How long does professional sofa cleaning take?

A sofa cleaning Dubai visit depends on size. ServiceMarket says a typical service takes 1 to 2 hours. Justlife publishes approximate times by sofa size, from about 15 minutes for a single seat and 30 for a three-seater to about 90 for a seven-seater. Urban Company lists about 20 minutes for its entry sofa package and 1 hour 25 minutes for a three-seater plus small carpet combination. Treat these as the providers’ own estimates, and allow longer for heavily soiled or oversized furniture.

How long does a sofa take to dry after cleaning?

After sofa cleaning Dubai teams finish, ServiceMarket says drying usually takes around 4 to 6 hours, depending on the method and ventilation. Urban Company says leather should dry for 3 to 4 hours before use. Justlife gives no figure.

Thick cushions in humid conditions can take longer, so plan on an evening, and use airflow rather than heat. The EPA’s general rule is that wet items should dry within 24 to 48 hours to avoid mould, so call the provider if a sofa is still wet the next day.

Is steam cleaning better than shampoo cleaning?

Neither method is better for every sofa cleaning Dubai job. ServiceMarket says steam is generally more efficient against germs and can dissolve wax, glue and gum, while shampoo is cheaper. Which? says to steam only fabrics with a W or WS code, to test first, and to use the lowest setting on velvet. Steam can also mean hot water extraction, which adds more moisture. The right choice depends on the care code, fibre and soil level, so ask the provider to explain their reason.

Can every stain be removed from a sofa?

No. In sofa cleaning Dubai jobs, fresh, water-based marks and general soil usually lift. Grease, dried coffee, red wine, ink and pet marks sometimes lift and sometimes only lighten. Sun fade, bleach marks, burns and bonded dye transfer rarely come out because they are changes to the fabric, not dirt on it. No provider we read publishes a success rate, so ask the cleaner to say which stains they expect to lift, lighten or stay before they start.

How often should I get my sofa cleaned?

For sofa cleaning Dubai intervals, ServiceMarket recommends every 6 to 12 months in its FAQ, although its main page says six months, and Justlife says every 6 to 12 months, or more often with heavy use, pets or young children. Which? suggests deep cleaning once or twice a year, with conditioning for leather every six to 12 months. A household with children or pets belongs at the shorter end. Regular vacuuming and prompt blotting between cleans extend the interval.

What does the W, S, WS or X code on my sofa mean?

For sofa cleaning Dubai bookings, W means water-based cleaners are suitable, S means water-free solvent cleaners only, and WS or SW means either. X is read as vacuum only by Which? and as professional cleaning only by American Leather, so ask the retailer or cleaner. The tag is usually under a seat cushion. Photograph it before you request quotes, because it decides which methods are safe. The code describes the cover fabric, not the foam or frame.

Is a sofa cleaning Dubai visit safe for children and pets?

Providers say their products are safe: ServiceMarket calls them Municipality-approved and safe for children and pets, and Urban Company calls them eco-friendly and non-toxic. Those are marketing claims, so ask for the product name and safety data sheet. Dubai Municipality requires detergent products to be registered with a safety data sheet. Keep children and pets out of the room until the sofa is dry and any smell has cleared, and ventilate if a solvent was used.

Can velvet, suede or leather sofas be professionally cleaned?

Often yes: sofa cleaning Dubai providers can use a gentler method and a hidden-area test. Sofology warns velvet can be damaged by too much water and fades in direct sun; Which? says to use the lowest steam setting on velvet. Leather Naturally says aniline leather can darken and suede and nubuck absorb liquids and mark. Urban Company describes a separate leather process. Ask the provider how they identify the finish, and avoid any plan that looks like a standard fabric shampoo.

Do I have to clean the landlord’s sofa before I move out?

There is no general sofa cleaning Dubai rule on the Dubai Land Department page we read, and it contains no text on furnished units. It says a landlord may require a deposit, that a tenant pays any excess for damage whether accidental or intentional, and that ordinary wear is not the tenant’s burden. Whether a professional clean is expected depends on your contract. Read it, ask in writing, and photograph the sofa at handover with the landlord present.

What if the sofa is damaged or still smells after the clean?

After a sofa cleaning Dubai visit, report damage or smell the same day through the booking channel, with dated before and after photographs. Urban Company asks to be contacted within 48 hours of the service. The UAE government portal says consumers are entitled to fair compensation for damage from inadequate or unprofessional services, with complaints to the Ministry of Economy on 800 1222 or through consumerrights.ae in Dubai. Keep the invoice and the booking messages.

Is sofa cleaning Dubai work included in a deep clean?

Sometimes as an add-on, not as a default. Dubai Housekeeping lists soft cleaning of upholstery, carpets, curtains and sofas among its deep-clean add-ons, rather than in the core scope. Scope and pricing vary by company, so ask whether sofas are included and how they are priced. Our deep cleaning guide explains what a standard deep clean usually covers, and what to request separately.
