Dubai has far more bars than any one evening can use, and the useful question is which job you want a bar to do: cocktails, a view, a calm hotel corner, a pub quiz or a loud rooftop. This best bars Dubai guide sorts 43 currently listed venues by that job, area, hours and the way home, checked on 29 October 2026.
Picture this: it is 9 pm, four of you are standing on a pavement, and nobody can agree whether tonight is for cocktails, a skyline or a quiet corner. Dubai has more bars than one evening can use, which is exactly why choosing badly is so easy. A rooftop that looks stunning online can be the wrong room for a conversation. A serious cocktail bar can feel flat if you came for the view.
The smarter move is to decide what job the night needs done before you open a map. Once you do, the best bars Dubai offers sort themselves into a handful of types, each with its own neighbourhood and its own way home. This guide gives you those types, the names that fit each, and the late-night transport traps that quietly spoil the end of a good evening.
The best bars Dubai has to offer are easiest to choose when you split them into five jobs: serious cocktail rooms (LITT, Honeycomb Hi-Fi, Tap Line, Galaxy Bar), rooftops for the view (Attiko, ZETA Seventy Seven, Cé La Vi, Privilege), hotel bars for a quieter night (Rose Bar, Bar Buci, The Bvlgari Bar, Gilt), pubs and sports bars for happy-hour value, and party-leaning terraces. Pick the job first, then the neighbourhood, then the venue.
Three rules shape every best bars Dubai plan. You must be 21 or older, you drink only inside licensed venues, and you never drive afterwards. The Metro stops at midnight on most nights (1 am on Fridays), so a late bar needs a taxi budget. The two operators whose hours we could read show why: ZETA Seventy Seven closes at midnight Sunday to Thursday, and Honeycomb Hi-Fi runs to 2 am.
This best bars Dubai guide is research-based, not field-tested. Every pick comes from published lists dated November 2025 to June 2026, then checked against venue sites where the sites would load. The shortlist is a map of evidence, not a verdict on taste, and each entry says what to confirm before you go.
This best bars Dubai guide is desk research. DubaiEveryday.com has not sat in these bars, tasted these drinks or queued at these doors, and nothing below describes a personal visit. When a bar is described, the description is a paraphrase of what a published source says about it.
Venue lists come from Time Out Dubai’s bar coverage (articles dated November 2025 to June 2026), which says its reviewers are anonymous and pay for their own drinks. Rules come from the UK government’s UAE safety page (updated 27 October 2026), a Gulf News licence explainer and the Roads and Transport Authority for transit hours.
Where a venue’s own site would load on 29 October 2026, we read it; where it would not, the entry says so. Inclusion was not paid for, nothing here is ranked by commission, and there are no booking links. This is general information, not legal advice; the rules section tells you where to check the law.
Best bars Dubai: the October 2026 status board
A best bars Dubai list goes stale faster than almost any other kind of guide. Bars change hands, move concepts, shut for refits or pause when a hotel reorganises its food and drink. 2026 added a harder reason. The regional disruption covered in our Dubai airport guide was followed by temporary closures and pauses at a number of hotel restaurants, including several that the Michelin Guide Dubai still lists. Bars sit in the same buildings and face the same risk.
So before any best bars Dubai recommendation, here is what we found on 29 October 2026. It is deliberately split by how strong the evidence is, because “the website loads” and “a magazine listed it in May” are different kinds of proof.
Venue site read today
Site loads, no closure notice
Honeycomb Hi-Fi (hours published), ZETA Seventy Seven (hours published), Galaxy Bar (reservations live), Attiko (site live, no hours published). Cé La Vi is named on the Address Sky View page, which we also read. This is the strongest evidence in the guide, and it is still only “the site works”.
Listed in a recent published guide
Time Out Dubai, Nov 2025 to Jun 2026
Most other picks. A magazine list tells you the bar was operating and well regarded when it was written. It does not tell you today’s hours, dress rules or table minimums. Treat each of these as “confirm first”.
Closed, paused or not yet open
Do not plan around these
Barasti (temporarily closed from June 2026, return planned for 2027). Mercury Lounge at Four Seasons Jumeirah (listed as temporarily closed in May 2026). Terra Solis (closed January 2026). SORA at CLAP in DIFC (announced for some date in November 2026).
The Barasti and Terra Solis details come from Khaleej Times and the research behind our Dubai nightlife guide. The SORA detail comes from a Time Out Dubai report dated 29 October 2026, which gives no opening date, so we do not count it as a pick. The sensible habit is the same for every name below: open the venue’s own page or message it on the day.
What this page does and does not cover
This page answers one question: which of the best bars Dubai offers suits your night, and how do you choose between them. It does not try to be the whole night out. Clubs, beach clubs, shows, the full clothing question and the whole-evening budget sit in the Dubai nightlife guide, which deliberately stops short of ranking individual bars. This guide picks up where that one ends.
For dinner first and drinks after, use the best restaurants guide. For coffee, daytime laptop spots and no-alcohol meeting places, the best cafes guide is the right page. Here, the unit of choice is the bar, the drink, the view and the way home.
Prices are the weak point of any best bars Dubai guide, and we will not pretend otherwise. Of the 43 profiled venues, published price evidence exists for only a handful of deals. The cost section therefore builds illustrative bills from a stated formula rather than quoting menu prices we could not read.
The rules every bar night in Dubai runs on
Enjoying the best bars Dubai has is easy if you follow a short list of rules, and expensive in every sense if you improvise. The rules below come from the UK government’s UAE travel advice (updated 27 October 2026) and a Gulf News explainer on licences. Neither is Dubai law itself, so for anything that matters, check with Dubai Police or the official channels listed on our legal basics guide. This is general information, not legal advice.
Age, licences and where you may drink
The drinking and buying age in Dubai is 21. You may drink in licensed venues, which in practice means hotel bars and restaurants, licensed independent restaurants, clubs and beach clubs. You do not need a personal licence to order a drink at a licensed venue. A personal licence is for buying alcohol to drink at home, and Gulf News describes a free temporary one for tourists, valid for 30 days on a passport, and a 12-month one for residents.
That distinction matters for any best bars Dubai plan because people confuse the two. A visitor with no licence can sit at Attiko or Gilt and order cocktails. The same visitor cannot walk into a liquor shop without applying first. Nothing in this guide requires a personal licence, and we do not cover buying for home.
The street, the beach and the car are not bars
The UK government’s advice is blunt: it is illegal to drink, or to be under the influence of alcohol, in a public place anywhere in the UAE. British nationals have been charged, often after police were called over disorderly behaviour. The practical reading is that the dangerous moment in a best bars Dubai night is the walk between the venue door and the car, not the bar stool.
Our reading of that wording, which is not a legal opinion, is simple. Book the ride before you finish the last drink, stay inside until the driver is outside, and do not carry an open drink out of a venue. If you are visibly drunk on a terrace pavement waiting for a taxi, you have made the one avoidable mistake.
The UK government says drink-driving is illegal however small the amount, and that your insurance is likely to be invalid if you crash. The Gulf News explainer, written in 2024, reports a zero-tolerance approach with fines of AED 20,000 to AED 100,000, possible jail and a licence suspension of at least three months for a first offence. Treat every number there as secondary and check current penalties yourself. The plan is simple: a driver who is not you.
Drugs, spiked drinks and behaviour
Drugs get the strictest line in the advice. The UK government describes zero tolerance, says even a small amount of cannabis can bring a minimum three-month prison term or a fine of AED 20,000 to AED 100,000, and says authorities treat drugs found in the bloodstream as possession. It also says airport scanners can pick up residue in transit baggage. A night at the best bars Dubai has to offer is no place to be casual about any of this.
The same page warns that criminals can spike drinks and assault or rob people, and advises against accepting drinks from strangers or leaving a drink unattended. It adds that drunken or offensive behaviour can lead to arrest, that swearing and rude gestures, including online, are treated as offences, and that a complainant who had been drinking can face a high burden of proof in sexual assault cases. Those lines are why the safety section later in this guide is practical rather than reassuring.
Photography, affection and noise
Rooftops are photo magnets, and the best bars Dubai has for views are where visitors slip. A Gulf News explainer on tourist rules says taking or posting photos or videos of people without their consent is illegal, with penalties under the cybercrime law of up to six months in jail and a fine of AED 150,000 to AED 500,000. Ask before you film a stranger, and frame selfies so that the table behind you is not the subject.
The same explainer says holding hands or a hug is fine and overly intimate behaviour in public places is discouraged. Bars tuck most of that behaviour inside, but terraces, lobbies and car parks are public enough to count. For clothing and conduct detail by venue type, see the Dubai dress code guide and the Dubai etiquette guide.
Sharjah, Ramadan and the border you cannot see
Sharjah, which borders Dubai, bans drinking and possessing alcohol, according to the UK government. If you sleep in Sharjah for the price, the best bars Dubai lists are still legal to use, but you cannot take a bottle or a drink back across the line. Ramadan changes opening patterns and public behaviour in the daytime; the seasons section covers the 2027 dates and what to expect.
How this best bars Dubai shortlist was built
A best bars Dubai list is only as honest as its method, so here is the method in plain words, including the parts that limit it. The aim of this shortlist was not to crown one winner. It was to produce a shortlist that you can verify quickly, sorted by the job each bar does, with the strength of the evidence shown on every card.
The steps
- Collect recent published listsWe read six Time Out Dubai bar articles: mixed-drinks bars, cocktail bars, rooftop bars, hotel bars, pubs and sports bars, with update dates from 20 November 2025 to 10 June 2026. We also noted the Michelin Guide Dubai 2026 cocktail award from our sibling research.
- Remove what is closed or not openMercury Lounge is flagged as temporarily closed in the rooftop list. Barasti, Terra Solis and SORA are on the status board and not counted.
- Try the venue’s own pageWhere a venue website would load on 29 October 2026, we read it for hours, reservation route and any closure notice. Several sites blocked automated reading or failed, and the cards say so.
- Add logisticsFor each bar we noted the area, the nearest rail option where we could support it, and what the last transport home looks like. Every distance claim is labelled as a map reading.
- Show evidence points, not scores of tasteEach card carries a number from 0 to 6, explained below, so you can see at a glance how thin or thick the paper trail is.
Evidence points: what the number means
Evidence points measure how well a bar’s current existence and reputation are documented. They do not measure whether the bar is good. Up to three points come from the highest tier Time Out gave the venue in any list we read (Winner 3, Highly Commended 2, Shortlisted or listed 1). One more point is added if the bar appears in more than one list. One point is added if the venue’s own site loads with no closure notice, or an operator page we read names it. One further point is added if that site publishes hours.
So six is the maximum, and it is rare. A bar with two points is not worse than one with five; its paper trail is thinner. Several of the most interesting small bars sit at one or two points simply because their sites would not load for automated reading.
What limits this best bars Dubai method
First, most recognition comes from one publisher, which makes the whole best bars Dubai picture a map of one editorial team’s attention. Time Out says it reviews anonymously and pays for its own drinks, but its awards pages do not explain how nominations or votes were tallied. Second, none of the lists gave hours, dress codes, cocktail prices or minimum spends. Third, we have no field testing at all. Fourth, the lists skew toward hotels and the DIFC, Downtown and Marina belt, so other districts are under-represented.
We also made editorial choices you should know about. Clubs are left to the nightlife guide. Venues that appear only in lists older than a year are not profiled. Brunches and day clubs are covered only where they affect bar planning. And we did not add any bar because someone asked us to: there are no sponsored entries, no affiliate links and no booking buttons on this page.
If a bar you love is missing from this best bars Dubai shortlist, the likely reasons are that it was not in the lists we read, that its site would not load, or that it falls outside the five jobs. That is a gap in the method rather than a judgement about the bar.
Five kinds of bar, and how to choose between them
Choosing among the best bars Dubai offers is mostly a matching problem. Most disappointing bar nights come from a mismatch of job and venue: a quiet conversation booked at a DJ terrace, a skyline sunset booked at a bar whose terrace faces a car park, a cocktail pilgrimage with a group that wanted a pint and a screen. The five types below are our own grouping, built from how the published lists describe the venues, and each one has a typical strength and a typical trap.
1. Cocktail rooms
The drink is the product. Rooms tend to be small, seating-led and bookable. Strength: craft and conversation. Trap: tiny capacity, so walk-ins fail on busy nights and a group of eight cannot be seated.
2. View bars
You pay for height and sunset. Strength: the skyline does the entertaining. Trap: weather, wind, heat, minimum spends and photo etiquette, plus a premium on every drink.
3. Hotel bars
Dependable service, polished design, usually good for a first drink. Strength: predictability. Trap: dress expectations, access rules for non-guests and a taxi-only location.
4. Pubs and sports bars
Screens, quizzes, happy hours and the cheapest per-drink maths. Strength: value for groups. Trap: noise, fixtures that clash with your plan and deals with small print.
5. Party terraces
DJs, ladies’ nights and late hours. Strength: atmosphere. Trap: entry policy, tables and spend that belong more to the nightlife guide than to a bar guide.
Two points cut across all five kinds of best bars Dubai venue. First, one anchor bar per night beats a crawl. Dubai’s districts are far apart by road, and the Metro stops at midnight on most nights, so each hop eats time and a taxi fare. If you want two stops, pick two in the same tower or the same district, such as Honeycomb Hi-Fi, Salmon Guru and Bar Dali all sitting in Business Bay buildings.
Second, the best bars Dubai has depend on the night of the week and the time of arrival. The same rooftop that is a calm sunset spot at 18:00 on a Tuesday is a different venue after 22:00 on a Friday. Plan for the version of the bar you will actually meet.
A one-minute way to choose
- Name the job in one wordDrink, view, value, calm or party. If two answers fit, the group is not aligned and a cocktail room is the safe compromise because it suits talk.
- Count the groupTwo to four suits most cocktail rooms. Five to eight suits hotel bars, pubs and larger rooftops. More than eight needs a booking and a spending conversation, not a walk-in.
- Pick the time slotEarly evening suits views and happy hours. After 22:00 suits cocktail rooms with DJs and party terraces. Midnight onward means the ride home is part of the choice.
- Check the way homeIf your last transit connection is the Metro, choose Business Bay, Downtown, DIFC or the Sheikh Zayed Road belt. If you will take taxis anyway, the whole coast opens up.
Cocktail bars: where the drink is the point
The cocktail category of the best bars Dubai shortlist is where the published evidence is strongest, largely because Time Out Dubai ran two separate lists of drink-led bars in November 2025. Seven bars below have a real paper trail. A further five show up with only a listing, and we say so plainly rather than inflating them with filler.
A note on what “good cocktails” means in a desk-research best bars Dubai guide. We cannot taste anything. What we can read is what editors found notable: an unusual format (a tap system in Tap Line), a distinctive room (the starry ceiling at Galaxy Bar), a distinctive menu logic (Fore Bar’s four flavour themes) or a distinctive pairing (the listening station and vinyl shop at Honeycomb Hi-Fi). Those are signals of intent, not guarantees of quality.
The seven cards below are the best bars Dubai evidence supports for drink-led nights, ordered by evidence points and then alphabetically.
Galaxy Bar
Gate Village 9, DIFCEvidence 4/6
A very small bar with space for roughly 30 guests, a star-patterned ceiling and celestial-themed cocktails, per Time Out Dubai, which listed it in two categories. The venue’s site loads and links to online reservations. Best for pairs and very small groups who would rather have a seat than a scene.
Confirm first: opening hours (the page we read gave none) and how firmly the small capacity limits walk-ins on a Friday or Saturday.
Honeycomb Hi-Fi
Pullman Dubai Downtown, Business BayEvidence 4/6
A music-first bar built around a listening station, a vinyl shop and a bookshop, serving Japanese izakaya-style food and creative cocktails with regular DJs. Its own site lists Sunday to Thursday 19:30 to 02:00 and Friday and Saturday 19:30 to 03:00, weekly DJ sets and listening sessions, and reservations through SevenRooms. Best for conversation with good sound.
Confirm first: dress expectations and age policy, neither of which the site states, and whether tonight’s DJ set changes the noise level.
LITT
Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, Umm SuqeimEvidence 4/6
A late-night room behind the restaurant KIRA inside Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, with velvet seating, glowing lamps and a bar shaped like a peacock’s tail. Time Out Dubai named it winner in both its mixed-drinks and cocktail-bar lists for the 2025 nightlife awards. Best for a dressed-up, unhurried evening on the coast side of town.
Confirm first: opening days and hours, whether guests who are not staying at the hotel can enter, and the ride home. Jumeirah’s hotel page that we read does not mention the bar.
Paradiso
FIVE Luxe, The Walk, JBREvidence 3/6
A circus-flavoured bar with rooftop views and experimental cocktails created with the mixologist Giacomo Giannotti, per Time Out Dubai. It was highly commended in the cocktail list and shortlisted in the mixed-drinks list. Best for a group that wants theatre with its drinks.
Confirm first: whether the rooftop section is open that night and whether weather affects it.
Gaba
Dubai MarinaEvidence 2/6
A Japanese tea house by day and a speakeasy-style cocktail bar by night, with tea-infused drinks and live DJ or piano sets. Time Out Dubai also lists an unlimited mixed-drinks deal at AED 90 as of November 2025; no days, time limit or drink list came with it, so read it as a pointer, not a price.
Confirm first: whether the AED 90 deal still exists, its terms, and the address, which the magazine gave only as the Marina.
Salmon Guru
The Opus by Omniyat, Business BayEvidence 2/6
A Madrid-born cocktail bar known, according to Time Out Dubai, for unusual ingredients and playful serveware. It appears in both the mixed-drinks and cocktail-bar lists. Best for a date night or a catch-up where the drinks are meant to be a talking point rather than background.
Confirm first: hours, booking route and any minimum spend. We did not read the venue’s own page.
Tap Line
Rowley’s, Central Park Towers, DIFCEvidence 2/6
A bar behind a mirror door inside Rowley’s in the financial district. Time Out Dubai highlights relaxed, quick service from a tap system, an unusual approach for a cocktail room. Best for one properly made drink before dinner when you do not want a two-hour commitment.
Confirm first: hours, walk-in policy and how the entrance works. The venue’s site would not load for automated reading on 29 October 2026.
Five more cocktail listings, with thinner evidence
Four of these appear in Time Out Dubai’s cocktail list as shortlisted venues with no description we could read. The fifth, Zuma, is also a shortlisted venue, and its group site loads but gives no hours. They are worth knowing as options because of where they sit, not because we can say what they do well.
- Alma Bar (Sucre, Gate Village 5, DIFC; evidence 1/6). Shortlisted by Time Out Dubai for cocktail bars. We read the listing only, with no description, so we cannot say more than where it is.
- Bar Dali (Maison Dali, ME Dubai, The Opus by Omniyat; evidence 1/6). Shortlisted in the same list. It sits in the same Business Bay building as Salmon Guru, which makes a two-bar evening a short walk inside one tower.
- Blind Tiger (Jumeirah Al Naseem, Umm Suqeim; evidence 1/6). Shortlisted. It is a hotel venue on the coast near Madinat Jumeirah, so plan the ride home rather than a stroll.
- Electric Pawn Shop (The H Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road; evidence 1/6). Shortlisted. A hotel bar on the Sheikh Zayed Road corridor, handy if your plans are in Downtown or the Trade Centre area.
- Zuma (bar and lounge) (Gate Village 6, DIFC; evidence 2/6). Shortlisted. The restaurant group’s site lists Dubai with reservations through SevenRooms but no hours or dress rules. It is a restaurant first, so treat the bar as part of a dinner plan.
An independent cocktail signal. The Michelin Guide Dubai 2026 gave its Exceptional Cocktails special award to Zahra Erfanian Azmoodeh of Carbone Dubai, according to The National’s report on the ceremony. Carbone is a restaurant at Atlantis, not a bar, and the award honours a person, so use it as a dinner-and-cocktails clue. Our Michelin restaurants guide covers the guide itself.
How to order well in a cocktail room
You do not need cocktail vocabulary to enjoy the best bars Dubai has for drinks, only a way to describe a mood. The simplest method is to give the bartender three words: a spirit you like, a flavour direction (sour, bitter, sweet, smoky, fruity) and a strength (light, medium, strong). The best bars Dubai has for cocktails handle that kind of brief easily, and menus organised by flavour, such as Fore Bar’s, are built for it.
Order in rounds rather than a long list. A first drink sets the tone, and the second can be a direct contrast. Many small rooms prefer that rhythm because it keeps the bar from backing up. A glass of water alongside each drink costs little and makes a long evening easier on you.
Ask what is on the menu that is not alcoholic if someone in your group is not drinking. Our sources do not tell us which bars have strong zero-proof menus, so treat it as a question for the day. It also costs nothing to ask whether there is a minimum spend before you sit down, which is worth knowing for small rooms and rooftop corners.
Cocktail rooms and the wider best bars Dubai evening
In any best bars Dubai plan, a cocktail room usually works as the first or last stop, not as a dinner substitute. Honeycomb Hi-Fi is the exception because it serves izakaya-style food, and Zuma and Amazónico are restaurants first. For dinner planning around a bar, the best restaurants guide sets out how to choose by area and budget, which makes a combined plan easier to price.
If you want to compare a small DIFC bar with a Business Bay one, the useful variable is not quality but transport. DIFC sits close to the Emirates Towers and Financial Centre Metro stops on our map reading, while the Opus building in Business Bay may mean a taxi or a longer walk from a station. Confirm both routes in a map app before you commit to a final-train plan.
Rooftop and view bars: best bars Dubai for skyline drinks
A view bar sells altitude and light, and the price of both is built into every drink. Nine of the best bars Dubai picks in this guide are in that group, all drawn from Time Out Dubai’s rooftop list of 12 May 2026 plus the hotel list. The first decision is not which tower. It is which view you want, because the city offers two quite different ones.
Sea sunset or city lights
Dubai’s coast faces the Arabian Gulf to the west and north-west, so the sunset happens over water for venues on the Marina, JBR, Al Sufouh, Madinat Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim side. Downtown, Business Bay and DIFC look across land to a skyline that lights up after dark. That is our reasoning from the geography, not a claim from a venue, but it explains a pattern in the published descriptions.
Attiko and ZETA Seventy Seven sell sea and Marina views. Bahri Bar, one of the hotel bars in the next section, sells the Madinat waterways with the Burj Al Arab beyond. Cé La Vi, High Society and Privilege sell the Downtown and Business Bay skyline. Monkey Bar sells the Sheikh Zayed Road corridor with a view toward the Museum of the Future, and Mercury Lounge, when it reopens, sells a Burj Khalifa panorama. Match the view to the hour: arrive for sunset on the coast, arrive after dark in the city.
What height does and does not buy
The ladder above shows five venues with a published floor: Gilt on the 27th floor of the Burj Al Arab, Attiko on the 31st of W Dubai, Cé La Vi on the 54th of Address Sky View, Privilege on the 75th of SLS Dubai and ZETA Seventy Seven on level 77 of Address Beach Resort. Floors are not metres, because floor heights differ between buildings. Time Out Dubai gives Privilege as 325 metres, and the hotel says the pool beside ZETA is at 294 metres.
Height buys a wider panorama and often a quieter city below. It also buys wind, and a hot terrace is no cooler at altitude in July. A higher floor is not automatically one of the best bars Dubai has; Attiko won the rooftop category from the 31st floor, well below the venues on the 54th, 75th and 77th.
The nine cards below are the best bars Dubai lists for views, ordered by evidence points and then alphabetically. Heights and floors come from the sources named on each card.
Attiko
W Dubai – Mina Seyahi, Al SufouhEvidence 5/6
A terrace bar on the 31st floor with floor-to-ceiling windows, sea and city views and DJs. Time Out Dubai made it winner of its rooftop list and mentions a ladies’ night, and says the hotel is adults-only. The bar’s site loads with no closure notice but gives no hours. Best for sunset drinks that run into a night out.
Confirm first: hours, the ladies’ night day and terms, dress expectations and the reservation route.
ZETA Seventy Seven
Address Beach Resort, JBREvidence 3/6
A venue on level 77 beside what the hotel calls the world’s highest outdoor infinity pool, at 294 metres, an operator claim we did not verify. Its site lists Sunday to Thursday 08:00 to 00:00 and Friday and Saturday 08:00 to 01:00, daily breakfast from AED 127 and brunches from AED 377. Time Out Dubai calls it pricey and says to book ahead.
Confirm first: dress code, age policy and minimum spend, none of which the page states. Note the midnight close on Sunday to Thursday.
Cé La Vi
Address Sky View, DowntownEvidence 2/6
A 54th-floor venue known for a swing, skyline views and DJ-led evenings, suited to drinks before or after dinner according to Time Out Dubai. The Address Sky View page we read lists it among the hotel’s venues as contemporary Asian cuisine. Best for a Downtown skyline evening that does not need a long journey.
Confirm first: hours, any cover or minimum on busy nights, and dress. Its own page returned an error on 29 October 2026.
Amazónico (Paraíso Rooftop Club)
DIFC PavilionEvidence 1/6
A jungle-themed restaurant and bar whose upstairs terrace, Paraíso, hosts international DJs and suits a late night, per Time Out Dubai. It is a restaurant first and a rooftop club second, which affects what you can book and when.
Confirm first: which nights have a DJ, the minimum for the terrace and the dress expectation.
High Society by Jean Imbert
The Lana, Dorchester Collection Dubai, Business BayEvidence 1/6
A rooftop with roughly 180-degree skyline views, an infinity pool, a late-night lounge, a long bubbly list and inventive small plates. Time Out Dubai calls the view one of the most photogenic it has come across. Best for a polished evening with a visitor who wants the skyline without a club.
Confirm first: hours and whether the rooftop is closed in extreme heat.
Monkey Bar
25hours Hotel Dubai, Trade Centre areaEvidence 1/6
A jungle-styled rooftop with tropical cocktails and a view toward the Museum of the Future, aimed at a fun, offbeat crowd according to Time Out Dubai. It is on the Sheikh Zayed Road side, which helps if you are relying on the Metro.
Confirm first: hours, dress and how much of the roof is shaded in summer.
Privilege
SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences, Business BayEvidence 1/6
A 75th-floor party venue with two infinity pools, a swim-up pool bar and a nightclub; Time Out Dubai gives the height as 325 metres. It is suited to sundowners that turn into late nights. Best for people who want a pool-side scene rather than a quiet corner.
Confirm first: who may use the pools, whether it is a day-to-night venue and what the entry terms are.
The Penthouse
FIVE Palm Jumeirah, Palm West StripEvidence 1/6
An established Palm rooftop, popular with visitors, known for its views, ladies’ nights and big DJ sets, according to Time Out Dubai. We found no rail option serving this strip in our sources, so plan on taxis.
Confirm first: hours, ladies’ night terms, entry and whether the ride-hailing pick-up point has changed.
Tiki’s by Canary Club
Banyan Tree Residences, JLTEvidence 1/6
A Polynesian-themed rooftop above the Canary Club restaurant in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, with tropical drinks, Tahitian-style bites and views of the JLT towers. Best for relaxed sundowners that can turn lively.
Confirm first: hours and whether the rooftop operates in summer heat.
Listed, but closed: At.mosphere. Burj Khalifa. Our research for the Michelin restaurants guide found the venue’s site saying its doors were closed for a short while, with no date. We did not re-read it for this page, so check before planning any Burj Khalifa drink.
Listed, but closed: Mercury Lounge. Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach. Time Out Dubai’s rooftop list (12 May 2026) gave it a highly commended tier and marked it temporarily closed, with panoramic views toward Burj Khalifa, Business Bay and Deira. We have no reopening date, so it is not counted.
How the best bars Dubai view venues compare in practice
Four patterns come out of the best bars Dubai descriptions. First, several rooftops are tied to pools: ZETA beside its infinity pool, Privilege with two pools and a swim-up bar, High Society with its infinity pool. Pool-side venues often mix hotel guests and visitors, so entry terms can differ by day. Second, venues with DJs (Attiko, Cé La Vi, The Penthouse, Amazónico) are noise-first after dark, and conversation suffers.
Third, quieter view options sit in hotel bars, particularly Bahri Bar and Gilt, where the view is the main event and the music is secondary. Fourth, the highest-evidence rooftop among the best bars Dubai lists is Attiko with five of six points, mainly because it was a category winner and was also listed in the mixed-drinks list, and its site loads with no closure notice. That is a paper-trail statement, not a promise that it will suit you.
Sunset timing and the arrival rule
Sunset in Dubai ranges from about 17:30 in November and December to about 19:10 in June and July by our calculation, covered with a chart later in this guide. The practical rule for the best bars Dubai has with sea views is to be seated 30 to 45 minutes before sunset, because rooftops with the best sea views fill first and the light changes quickly after the sun drops below the horizon. If you arrive after sunset, the lights are the show and the booking rules matter less.
Check weather the same day. Dust, haze and humidity can flatten a sunset, and wind makes high terraces uncomfortable. Our best time to visit Dubai guide sets out the season in more detail, and it is worth reading before you plan an open-air bar night in summer.
Photo manners on a rooftop. Rooftops invite photographs, and Gulf News reports that photographing or posting people without consent is illegal, with penalties under the cybercrime law. Shoot the skyline, not the next table. If a stranger ends up in the frame, delete the shot or crop it before posting.
Rooftops without alcohol or without a bar crowd
If part of your group does not drink, a view bar is usually still workable because most also serve non-alcoholic drinks and food, but we did not find a list that tells you which bars have strong zero-proof menus. Ask when you book. For a skyline evening without a bar at all, the Dubai things to do guide covers observation decks and waterfront walks, and the free things to do guide covers views that cost nothing.
For a first-timer who wants one of the best bars Dubai has for views and no more, the sound choice is a coastal sunset spot if you are staying in the Marina or JBR area, and a Downtown or Business Bay rooftop after dark if you are staying near the Dubai Mall. That keeps the journey short and the evening single-anchor. Our first time in Dubai plan shows where such an evening fits among the other must-do bookings.
Hotel bars: the calm end of the best bars Dubai list
Most bars in the lists we read sit inside hotels, which fits the UK government’s description of licensed venues as hotels, restaurants and clubs. For a visitor that has a useful side effect: many of the quietest, best-staffed and most predictable bars in the city are hotel bars. Ten of the best bars Dubai picks are profiled here from Time Out Dubai’s hotel-bar list of November 2025, which names Rose Bar at Delano Dubai as winner.
Hotel bars suit three kinds of night in any best bars Dubai plan. The first is the unhurried first drink before dinner. The second is the conversation that cannot happen over a DJ. The third is the occasion where the room is part of the present: a birthday, an anniversary, a business guest. They suit less well anyone watching the bill, because hotel bars sit at the top of the price range in every city, and anyone without a lift home.
Clusters worth knowing
Three hotel clusters make a two-bar evening easy. Madinat Jumeirah holds Bar Buci at Jumeirah Al Qasr and Bahri Bar at Jumeirah Mina A’Salam, which Time Out Dubai describes as sunset-friendly in different ways: a Parisian-style terrace over the resort, and a waterfront bar facing the waterways and Burj Al Arab. Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab holds Fore Bar and the late-night room LITT, and the neighbouring Jumeirah Al Naseem holds Blind Tiger.
In Business Bay, The Lana holds both Bitter Honey and the rooftop High Society, so you can start low and warm and finish high and bright without leaving the building. That is our reading of two separate Time Out entries, not something either venue promises, so check that the rooftop is open that night.
The ten cards below are the hotel bars in the best bars Dubai shortlist, ordered by evidence points and then alphabetically.
Rose Bar
Delano Dubai, Bluewaters IslandEvidence 3/6
A glamorous bar with stone-topped counters and private-feeling booths, known for signature cocktails, and winner of Time Out Dubai’s hotel-bar list. It runs a ‘rose hour’ from 18:00 to 20:00 with small plates, the only timing the magazine gave.
Confirm first: whether rose hour is still running, the dress mood and the ride: Bluewaters has a marine link from the Marina per RTA but no Metro.
Bar Buci
Jumeirah Al Qasr, Madinat JumeirahEvidence 2/6
A Parisian-style bar with a marble counter and terrace views over Madinat Jumeirah, suited to sunset drinks and long conversations. Light fruity cocktails and more adventurous ones both feature, per Time Out Dubai.
Confirm first: hours and terrace booking.
The Bvlgari Bar
Bvlgari Resort Dubai, Jumeirah Bay IslandEvidence 2/6
A calm, upscale bar on a private island within the Bvlgari Resort, with understated design and fine detail. It suits an indulgent, quiet outing. Highly commended in Time Out Dubai’s hotel-bar list.
Confirm first: access for non-guests, hours and dress.
Bahri Bar
Jumeirah Mina A’Salam, Madinat JumeirahEvidence 1/6
A waterfront bar with sunset views over the Madinat waterways and Burj Al Arab, a menu inspired by Silk Road flavours and a music-and-sea-breeze mood. Best for tropical or floral cocktails at golden hour.
Confirm first: hours and whether the best terrace tables need a booking.
Bitter Honey
The Lana, Dorchester Collection Dubai, Business BayEvidence 1/6
A small, warm, gold-toned bar in a new hotel with botanical and honey-based drinks, per Time Out Dubai. Best for a classy but relaxed conversation with lighter, sweeter cocktails.
Confirm first: hours and seating policy, because small bars fill quickly.
Fore Bar
Jumeirah Marsa Al ArabEvidence 1/6
A sleek, relaxed bar with strong views whose menu is organised into four flavour themes. Best for friends who want a memorable night with a view and an easy way to choose drinks.
Confirm first: hours, entry for non-guests and the ride home.
Gilt
Burj Al Arab, 27th floorEvidence 1/6
A gold-accented bar on the 27th floor of the Burj Al Arab with views of the city lights, picked out by Time Out Dubai as worth dressing up for. Food mentions include truffle fries and wagyu sliders.
Confirm first: the Burj Al Arab’s access rules for non-guests, dress, minimum spend and booking. Jumeirah’s hotel pages we read gave no bar detail.
Luna Dubai
Four Seasons Hotel DIFCEvidence 1/6
A bar with a striking backdrop that photographs well, working both for weekend nights and for the business-district crowd. Citrusy and floral drinks and good music feature in the magazine’s description.
Confirm first: hours and any dress guidance. The Four Seasons page did not load on 29 October 2026.
Mamm’s Bar
Mama Shelter Dubai, Business BayEvidence 1/6
A colourful, lively bar with upbeat music and a playful crowd. It suits an easygoing, fun night rather than a hushed one.
Confirm first: hours, music nights and whether it takes reservations.
Savant
SO/ Uptown DubaiEvidence 1/6
A lobby bar suited to quick catch-ups and longer nights, with creative drinks. Time Out Dubai recommends the cocktails named ‘the painter’ and ‘the musician’.
Confirm first: the hotel’s location (the magazine did not give the district; check before travelling), hours and dress.
Access, dress and the question nobody answers
None of the hotel-bar entries we read says whether non-guests can walk in, whether a reservation is required or what the dress expectation is. Time Out Dubai calls Gilt a place worth dressing up for, which is a hint, not a rule. The only dependable approach is to message the hotel’s food and drink reservations team and ask three things: is a booking required for a table at this hour, is there a dress guideline, and is there a minimum spend.
On dress, the broad guidance in our Dubai dress code guide applies: dress for the venue and for the walk through the hotel lobby. Smart-casual clothing, closed shoes for the most formal rooms and a layer for strong air conditioning solve almost every case. Beachwear belongs at the pool and the beach, not in a lobby bar.
Some hotel bars are in adults-only hotels. Time Out Dubai says W Dubai – Mina Seyahi is adults-only, which affects Attiko. If you are travelling with children, check the hotel’s age rules before you plan a family-friendly drink on a terrace; our Dubai with kids guide covers where children are welcome and when.
A calm way to pick one. If you want one hotel bar from the best bars Dubai list and have no strong preference, choose by transport first. Business Bay and DIFC options are reachable by Metro and a short taxi, Madinat and Umm Suqeim need a car. Then use the evidence points as a tiebreaker: Rose Bar (3), Bar Buci (2) and The Bvlgari Bar (2) have the strongest published recognition among the hotel entries.
Pubs, sports bars and waterfront party spots
Pubs and sports bars are the least glamorous entries in this best bars Dubai guide and often the most useful. They tend to publish happy hours, host quiz nights, show matches and let a group of six sit together without a minimum spend conversation. Time Out Dubai ran separate pub and sports-bar lists, which is why several names appear twice. Twelve venues are profiled here: ten pubs and sports bars and two waterfront or party-leaning spots.
The waterfront pair among the best bars Dubai picks is different. Bar du Port at Dubai Harbour is a lively waterfront venue with a party brunch and ladies’ night, and Ongaku at CLAP in DIFC is a rooftop Japanese bar with a Saturday party brunch. They are closer to the nightlife guide’s territory than to a quiet bar list, so read them as bridges between the two pages.
The twelve cards below close out the best bars Dubai shortlist, ordered by evidence points and then alphabetically.
Coterie Social
Ibn Battuta MallEvidence 3/6
Winner of Time Out Dubai’s sports-bar list in June 2026: a central bar area with drinks deals inside a mall. A mall location helps with parking and with air conditioning on a hot night.
Confirm first: mall opening hours versus bar hours, deal days and the Metro link: Dubai Airports’ transfer page names Ibn Battuta as a Red Line stop.
McCafferty’s JVC
Circle Mall, Jumeirah Village CircleEvidence 3/6
A very large rooftop sports bar with a long list of taps, highly commended in the sports list and also listed among pubs. Best for match nights when a group wants space rather than a cocktail bar.
Confirm first: match-night booking and the ride, because JVC has no rail.
Fibber Magee’s
Saeed Tower One, Sheikh Zayed RoadEvidence 2/6
A pub on the Sheikh Zayed Road, listed in the pubs list and the sports list with ‘top deals’ but no specifics. Best for a casual after-work pint near the Metro corridor.
Confirm first: deal days and times, which were not printed.
McGettigan’s JLT
Cluster J, JLTEvidence 2/6
A pub in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, in both the pubs and sports lists, running deals and events around big tournaments.
Confirm first: event calendar and deal terms.
The Underground Pub
Habtoor Grand Resort, JBREvidence 2/6
A pub with more than 20 screens and a large projector, highly commended in the June 2026 sports list. Best for football nights on the JBR side of the Marina.
Confirm first: which fixtures it shows and whether booking is needed on big match days.
Bar du Port
Dubai Harbour Pier Club, Dubai MarinaEvidence 1/6
A waterfront nightlife venue at Dubai Harbour with well-made drinks, a decent wine list and a lively crowd. Time Out Dubai advises booking, especially for the party brunch and ladies’ night.
Confirm first: which nights are party nights and the ride home; Dubai Harbour has no Metro.
Bridgewater Tavern
JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, Business BayEvidence 1/6
A hotel tavern with a happy hour that Time Out Dubai gives as 16:00 to 19:00 daily. That is one of only two sports-bar happy hours in the list with a stated time window.
Confirm first: whether the happy hour has changed and what it covers.
Double Decker
Swissotel Al Murooj, Downtown DubaiEvidence 1/6
A pub with a happy hour the magazine describes as eight hours long. No start or end times were printed, so the offer is a pointer, not a plan.
Confirm first: the actual happy-hour window, which days it covers and which drinks.
Ernst Biergarten & Wirtshaus
25hours Hotel, Trade Centre areaEvidence 1/6
A German-style beer garden and tavern in the same hotel as Monkey Bar, with weekly quiz nights and monthly events but no drink deals listed.
Confirm first: quiz night and event dates.
Ongaku
CLAP, Gate Village, DIFCEvidence 1/6
A colourful Japanese rooftop bar inside the CLAP restaurant, with sushi, inventive drinks and a lively Saturday party brunch. SORA, a new rooftop and nightclub planned at CLAP, is announced for November 2026 with no date.
Confirm first: how the planned SORA opening changes the rooftop programme.
Seven Sports Bar
NH Collection Dubai The Palm, Palm JumeirahEvidence 1/6
A hotel sports bar with weekday happy hour from 17:00 to 20:00 and house pours at AED 32, per Time Out Dubai in June 2026. It is the only bar in this guide with both a time window and a drink price from a published source.
Confirm first: whether AED 32 is still the price, which pours count and whether tax and service are added.
The Irish Village
GarhoudEvidence 1/6
A pub in Garhoud, east of the creek, and the only option in the lists we read that sits away from the Marina, Downtown and DIFC belt.
Confirm first: hours, parking and the ride home.
Reading a pub’s deal sheet
A good best bars Dubai guide would tell you the price of a pint. Ours cannot, because the lists we read printed almost none. The only price attached to a pub or sports bar in our sources is AED 32 for house pours at Seven Sports Bar, on weekdays from 17:00 to 20:00. Only two venues have a stated happy-hour window, Bridgewater Tavern (16:00 to 19:00 daily) and Seven Sports Bar. Everything else says “deals” without terms.
That gap is useful information. It means that if you rely on a pub for value, you must ask three things before you sit: which days, which drinks, and whether the stated price includes tax and service. The happy-hours section later shows why that third question can change a bill by well over 15 per cent.
Match nights and noise
Sports bars price their value in screens and space. The Underground Pub at the Habtoor Grand in JBR has more than 20 screens and a large projector, according to Time Out Dubai; McCafferty’s in Jumeirah Village Circle has a very large rooftop; Coterie Social at Ibn Battuta Mall won Time Out Dubai’s list in June 2026. For a major football night, assume that every one of them is busy, that a group needs a booking, and that quiet conversation is not available.
Where a mall hosts the bar, as with Coterie Social at Ibn Battuta Mall and McCafferty’s at Circle Mall, check the mall’s hours as well as the bar’s. A bar inside a mall may close at a different time from the shops, and the exit route at night may be different from the daytime one. Our Dubai Mall guide shows the kind of detail worth checking for any big mall: entrances, parking zones and late-night access.
Best bars Dubai by neighbourhood: where to base a night
Choosing the district before the bar is the single best way to avoid a bad night with the best bars Dubai offers. Dubai is a linear city, and bars cluster in a few places for different reasons. We sorted the 43 best bars Dubai picks by the area each source gave, and the pattern is lopsided. It also exposes how thin the published coverage is outside the main tourist belt.
Business Bay holds eight of the 43, DIFC seven, the Marina, JBR, Al Sufouh, Bluewaters and Dubai Harbour belt seven, and the Jumeirah coast from Umm Suqeim to Jumeirah Bay seven. Sheikh Zayed Road has four, Downtown two, the Palm two, Jumeirah Lakes Towers two, and three districts have one each, with Savant left without a district in its source. That is our count of the lists we read, not a census of Dubai bars.
The transport split
Roughly 25 of the 43 best bars Dubai picks sit in districts with a Metro stop in the area: DIFC, Business Bay, Downtown, the Sheikh Zayed Road corridor, JLT, Ibn Battuta and Garhoud. Another five sit in the Marina and JBR belt, where the Metro needs a tram change. About 12 are taxi-first: the Jumeirah coast, the Palm, JVC, Bluewaters and Dubai Harbour. One, Savant, has no district in the source. These are our classifications from map reading, so verify each route.
The split matters for any best bars Dubai plan because the Metro stops at midnight on most nights, as the next sections show. A Metro-friendly venue gives you a free-ish exit before midnight and a taxi after. A taxi-first venue gives you no cheap exit at any hour, so the ride has to be in the budget from the start.
| District | Venues here | Typical bar types | Sensible way home |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIFC | 7 | Small cocktail rooms, restaurant bars, a rooftop | Metro near Emirates Towers or Financial Centre before midnight; taxi after |
| Business Bay | 8 | Hotel bars, rooftops, cocktail rooms | Business Bay Metro station for some; taxi for the rest |
| Downtown | 2 | Skyline rooftop, hotel pub | Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro; taxi after midnight |
| Marina, JBR, Al Sufouh, Bluewaters, Harbour | 7 | Rooftops, speakeasy, pub, waterfront party | Metro plus tram to 01:00; taxi for Bluewaters and Harbour |
| Jumeirah coast (Umm Suqeim to Jumeirah Bay) | 7 | Hotel bars, a late-night lounge | Taxi in both directions |
| Sheikh Zayed Road and Trade Centre | 4 | Rooftop, beer garden, pub, hotel bar | Metro on the corridor; check the exact station |
The table leaves out the smaller clusters, which are covered in the sections below. Treat all route entries as starting hypotheses for a map app, not RTA planning outputs.
DIFC and Business Bay: the dense middle
Together these two hold 15 of the 43 best bars Dubai picks, which makes them the easiest place to build a no-regrets evening. DIFC is a compact financial district with small rooms close together: Tap Line, Galaxy Bar, Alma Bar, Zuma, Ongaku and Amazónico are all listed there. Several sit in the same Gate Village complex, which makes a two-stop evening unusually easy in Dubai. Our Downtown Dubai guide explains how DIFC, Business Bay and Downtown relate on the map.
Business Bay offers more hotel-flavoured evenings among the best bars Dubai picks: Honeycomb Hi-Fi at Pullman, Bitter Honey and High Society at The Lana, Privilege at SLS, Mamm’s Bar at Mama Shelter, Salmon Guru and Bar Dali at The Opus and Bridgewater Tavern at the JW Marriott Marquis. For first-timers staying near the Dubai Mall, this is the most efficient district in the guide.
Downtown: fewer bars, better views
Only two Downtown venues made our best bars Dubai list, Cé La Vi and Double Decker, though Downtown has many restaurants with drinks. If your hotel is near Burj Khalifa, the practical plan is to take a Downtown rooftop for the skyline and then use the Metro or a short taxi to Business Bay or DIFC for a second stop. The Dubai Mall guide helps with the daytime part of that day, including parking and Metro access.
The coast: Marina, JBR, Al Sufouh and Bluewaters
The Marina and JBR belt gives the strongest sunset-over-water set among the best bars Dubai lists: ZETA Seventy Seven, Attiko, Paradiso, Gaba, The Underground Pub, Bar du Port and Rose Bar. The Marina is walkable by day, and the transport options are richer than in most districts, including the tram and water transport. Our Dubai Marina guide sets out the tram stops, the water taxi and what is within walking distance. Marine departure times were not read, so do not plan a ferry home without checking RTA.
Bluewaters, where Rose Bar sits in the Delano hotel, is reachable by RTA water services from the Marina according to the Marina research behind our guide, but there is no Metro on the island. Dubai Harbour, home of Bar du Port, is a taxi destination. Both are fine if you pay for the ride on purpose.
Umm Suqeim, Madinat and the Jumeirah coast
This stretch holds the most atmospheric hotel bars among the best bars Dubai picks: Gilt, LITT, Fore Bar, Blind Tiger, Bar Buci, Bahri Bar and The Bvlgari Bar. It is also where transit does least for you. We found no rail option here in our sources, so a taxi both ways is the planning assumption. A pair of bars within one resort, such as Bar Buci and Bahri Bar at the Madinat, is the efficient way to use that one expensive ride.
The Palm, JLT, JVC and the rest
The Palm has The Penthouse and Seven Sports Bar in our best bars Dubai lists, both far from the Metro. Our Palm Jumeirah guide covers how people get on and off the island. JLT has Tiki’s and McGettigan’s, with Metro and tram connections around the lakes. JVC’s McCafferty’s has no rail, Ibn Battuta Mall’s Coterie Social is at a Red Line stop, and Garhoud’s Irish Village is the lone entry east of the creek.
If your accommodation is in a part of Dubai not listed here, the sensible approach is the reverse of this section: find the two nearest listed districts to your hotel and choose a bar there, rather than crossing the city for a name on any best bars Dubai list.
Happy hours, deals and ladies’ nights
Happy hour is where the best bars Dubai offers become affordable, and also where small print does the most damage. The lists we read are thin on terms. Only two venues state a happy-hour window, one states a drink price, and one gives an “unlimited” figure with no conditions. That is the whole verified dataset, so here it is in one place and then the method for judging any deal you find.
Three more best bars Dubai offers are mentioned without terms: Double Decker’s eight-hour happy hour, deals at McGettigan’s and Fibber Magee’s, and ladies’ nights at Attiko, The Penthouse and Bar du Port. ZETA Seventy Seven lists brunches from AED 377 on Fridays and Saturdays on its own site. These numbers move, and the lists are months old, so every one of them is a lead, not a price.
The five questions that decide whether a deal is a deal
- Which days and which hours?Seven Sports Bar’s offer is weekdays only. Bridgewater Tavern’s is daily. A deal that ends at 19:00 does not help if you arrive for sunset at 19:10.
- Which drinks count?House pours are not cocktails. A low price for a basic spirit-and-mixer pour tells you nothing about the cocktail list next to it.
- Is it per drink or a bundle?Unlimited deals, such as the AED 90 figure reported for Gaba, usually come with a time limit, a drink list and a no-sharing rule. Ask for all three.
- Does the price include tax and service?Advertised and final prices can differ by well over 15 per cent. The cost section works through the numbers.
- What happens after the window?Prices usually revert to full menu rates. A last-round habit that starts at 18:55 helps; one that continues at 19:10 does not.
The maths of a happy hour
An illustrative example, not a quote. Suppose a bar sells house pours at AED 32 in a happy hour and AED 55 outside it, and you stay for three drinks. Inside the window the menu cost is AED 96. Outside, it is AED 165. The gap is AED 69 before service and tax, or about AED 80 after our illustrative 10 per cent service charge and 5 per cent VAT. Over a week, the difference between always arriving at 18:30 and always arriving at 21:00 is a few hundred dirhams.
The saving at the best bars Dubai has only exists if you would have bought the drinks anyway. Happy hours reward people who would drink at that time regardless, not people lured into drinking more. A fair test is whether you would have chosen this bar at this hour at full price. If not, the saving is not a saving.
Ladies’ nights and promotions
Time Out Dubai mentions ladies’ nights at Attiko and at The Penthouse, and advises booking for the one at Bar du Port. It prints no terms. Ladies’ night offers differ widely in what they give and what they require, so treat the venue’s own channel as the only source. Ask the same five questions: which day, what is included, what time does it end, whether entry is free or ticketed, and whether you need to be on a guest list.
One caution applies to all promotions at the best bars Dubai has. Offers that encourage heavy drinking are a bad fit for a city where the way home matters and where being drunk in public is an offence. An unlimited deal at 21:00 followed by a dark walk to a taxi at 01:00 is the exact sequence the rules section warns about. Our full evening-budget thinking sits in the nightlife guide.
Brunch is a related but different product
Several of the best bars Dubai picks also run party brunches: ZETA Seventy Seven on Friday and Saturday, Ongaku on Saturday and Bar du Port. A brunch is a package of food and drink for a fixed time, not a bar visit, so the logic is different. The package price covers food, and you judge it by how long you stay and how much you eat. This guide does not rank brunches; use the venue’s own page for the package terms.
What a bar night costs: worked bills
Menus at many of the best bars Dubai lists show a price that is not the final price. The difference is a stack of charges. Because we could not read a single menu price for the bars in this guide, the examples below are explicitly illustrative. They show how the arithmetic works. They are not quotes, and none of the drink prices is a market fact.
The stack: what sits on top of the menu price
Three layers can sit on a bill at the best bars Dubai lists. The first is a service charge, which many hotel venues add; ten per cent is a common figure, but we have no venue-specific source, so confirm it on the menu. The second is the municipality fee of 7 per cent on hotel and restaurant bills. The National reported on 21 May 2026 that Dubai approved a relief package that halts it, with the 33 measures running for three to 12 months and no end date given for this one.
The third layer is 5 per cent VAT, the standard UAE rate.
Our illustrative method multiplies the menu price by (1 + service + fee), then by 1.05 for VAT. For an AED 70 drink with a 10 per cent service charge and VAT, that is AED 80.85. With the 7 per cent fee added, it is AED 86.00. The uplift is therefore 15.5 per cent without the fee and 22.9 per cent with it. Always check whether the menu says prices are inclusive.
Three worked bills
The scenarios below, for a best bars Dubai night, use the stack above, a 15 or 20 kilometre night taxi estimated from Gulf News’ report of RTA’s revised tariff (our calculation: AED 5.50 night flag-fall plus AED 2.14 to 2.26 per kilometre, plus AED 4 Salik), and 3.6725 dirhams to the dollar. The distances are placeholders. Replace them with your own.
| Illustrative night | Assumptions | Drinks bill, without / with 7% fee | Per person, all-in |
|---|---|---|---|
| A. Two people, cocktail room | 6 cocktails at AED 70 menu price; one 15 km taxi home (about AED 42.50) | AED 485 / AED 516 | About AED 264 (USD 72) / AED 279 (USD 76) |
| B. Four friends, pub happy hour | 8 house pours at AED 32; one shared 15 km taxi | AED 296 / AED 315 | About AED 85 (USD 23) / AED 89 (USD 24) |
| C. Two people, rooftop | 8 drinks at AED 90 menu price; two 20 km taxi rides (about AED 53.50 each) | AED 832 / AED 885 | About AED 469 (USD 128) / AED 496 (USD 135) |
The pattern matters more than the totals. In all three nights the taxi is only 8 to 13 per cent of the per-person bill, so the drinks dominate. The tax stack adds 15 to 23 per cent to whatever the menu says, a bigger swing than the ride. Night B costs about a third of Night A per person and less than a fifth of Night C, and the difference is almost entirely the menu price of the drink.
Where the money leaks on a best bars Dubai night
- Assuming the menu price is the price and finding a bill 15 to 23 per cent higher at the end.
- Ordering a second round before the first is finished, then paying for drinks left behind when the group moves on.
- Letting a group of eight order independently, which gets tabs mixed up and encourages round-buying.
- Taking a taxi to the next venue “just for a look” and paying the flag-fall and a booking fee twice.
- Paying card deposits or minimum spends at small rooms without asking what they cover.
Cheap evenings at the best bars Dubai offers do exist. A happy-hour pour at a pub, a sunset drink in the first hour and a Metro ride before midnight make a bar night affordable. The expensive ones usually come from three decisions made together: a far-off rooftop, a late arrival and a taxi both ways. For wider budgeting, see our cost of living guide and the monthly numbers in the single-person budget.
On tips at the best bars Dubai offers, practice varies by venue and by whether a service charge is already included. The Dubai etiquette guide covers tipping norms. The safe habit is to read the bottom of the bill before adding anything, and to avoid tipping twice for the same service.
Atmosphere: matching the room to the occasion
Atmosphere is the hardest part of any best bars Dubai guide to judge from a desk, and the easiest thing to ruin by guessing. We cannot report what a room feels like. What we can do is sort the published descriptions into a mood spectrum, and then match the spectrum to common occasions. The sort below is our reading of Time Out Dubai’s wording and each venue’s own site, and it is a starting point for a phone call, not a verdict.
Quiet and conversational
Galaxy Bar (about 30 guests), Bitter Honey (small and warm), The Bvlgari Bar (calm and understated), Bar Buci (long conversations on a terrace), Fore Bar (a relaxed room with views).
Music-led but still social
Honeycomb Hi-Fi (listening station, weekly DJ sets), Gaba (DJ or piano sets), Luna Dubai (good music, photogenic backdrop), Savant (lobby bar that works for quick or long stays).
Playful and theatrical
Paradiso (circus-style), Monkey Bar (jungle rooftop), Tiki’s (Polynesian theme), Mamm’s Bar (colourful and upbeat), Salmon Guru (unusual serveware).
Dressed-up and scenic
Gilt (gold accents on the Burj Al Arab’s 27th floor), Rose Bar (glamorous booths), ZETA Seventy Seven (high-end and pricey), High Society (photogenic views).
Loud and late
Attiko, Cé La Vi, The Penthouse, Privilege, Amazónico’s Paraíso terrace and Bar du Port lean toward DJs, ladies’ nights, parties and a younger crowd, according to Time Out Dubai’s descriptions.
Social and screen-led
Pubs and sports bars, from The Underground Pub to McGettigan’s. Noise depends on the fixture, not on the venue.
Matching the occasion
For a first date or a quiet reunion, choose from the first card. Small rooms mean you hear each other, and a booked seat removes the awkward standing at a bar. For a birthday group of six to ten, choose among the best bars Dubai picks in the fourth or fifth card, but book weeks ahead and ask about minimum spend, because groups at view venues often face table rules.
For business drinks, hotel bars are the sensible default among the best bars Dubai picks. They have staff trained in discreet service, you can arrive straight from work and the smart-casual dress expected will not embarrass you. A rooftop with a DJ is a poor place to close a contract. For a visiting parent or an older relative, daytime-to-evening transitions work best: a sunset drink at a quiet coastal terrace, then a seated dinner.
For a solo traveller, a hotel bar or a small cocktail room among the best bars Dubai picks is the better start than a loud rooftop. Staff are visible, the crowd is smaller and conversation is possible. Nothing in our sources ranks venues by safety, so the choice rests on common sense and the practical steps in the safety section.
Watching a match, or avoiding the match
Sports bars live and die by fixtures. A bar with more than 20 screens is a brilliant place for a big football night and a poor one for a conversation. Before you book, ask which matches are shown on which screens and whether the sound is on. The opposite problem is real too: if you want a quiet pub night and a big match is on, pick a different venue or a different day.
When someone in the group does not drink
Plenty of people go to the best bars Dubai offers without drinking alcohol. In the lists we read, no venue states its zero-proof offer, which is a gap rather than a negative. Two moves work. Choose a venue with food, because a menu gives non-drinkers something to order, and ask in advance about non-alcoholic cocktails. Honeycomb Hi-Fi serves food and music; most hotel bars serve both. And remember that drink-free evenings are easy in Dubai, as the nightlife guide sets out.
Booking, doors, ID and dress
Booking is increasingly the front door to the best bars Dubai has. Honeycomb Hi-Fi, ZETA Seventy Seven, Galaxy Bar and Zuma all link to SevenRooms reservations on their sites, according to the pages we read. Time Out Dubai also advises booking for ZETA and for the party brunch and ladies’ night at Bar du Port. None of the pages we read publishes a cancellation policy or a deposit rule, so ask before you pay a deposit.
The five-line message that saves a night
Send the venue a short message before you travel. A well-run bar will answer within a day, and a bar that does not is telling you something. Ask these in order:
- Are you open tonight, and until what time? (Hours listed online may be last year’s.)
- Do I need a reservation for two at 20:00, and is there a hold time if I run late?
- Is there a minimum spend, cover charge or deposit?
- Is there a dress guideline, and are non-hotel guests welcome?
- Is service and tax included in the menu price?
ID, age and the door
The legal age is 21, and a Gulf News explainer says showing a valid ID confirming the person is 21 or older is a defence for anyone serving. That puts the burden on the venue, and good venues check. Carry a passport, a copy that the venue accepts or an Emirates ID if you are a resident, and do not be offended by a request. A door that does not check is not a good sign for a bar that wants to be among the best bars Dubai lists.
Some venues may set a higher house age for parts of the building or for particular nights. We found no published house rules for any of the 43, so ask if you are bringing a mixed-age group. Remember that the W Dubai – Mina Seyahi is described by Time Out Dubai as adults-only, which is a hotel rule, not a bar rule.
Dress without guessing
The widest-working rule is one notch above your daytime clothing: collared or smart-casual shirt or a dress, closed shoes, nothing beach-related. The UK government advises that women cover shoulders and knees in public places such as malls and avoid see-through clothing, and that some venues have their own dress codes. Our dress code guide goes through venue types in more detail.
Two practical clothing points are specific to rooftops and hotels. A light layer helps because indoor air conditioning is strong and some terraces are breezy. A bag you can keep on your lap helps in small rooms with limited space. Heels on wooden decks and in hotel gardens can be unkind, so choose the shoes you can walk home in, in case the taxi queue is long.
Arrival strategy
For walk-ins at the best bars Dubai offers, arrive early. Early evening is the easiest time to get a seat at small rooms, and the first hour is when staff have most time to talk to you. For booked tables, aim to be on time because hold times at popular venues are short. For rooftops at sunset, treat the booking time as the sunset slot and arrive 30 to 45 minutes before the sun goes down.
If the bar is in a hotel, allow extra time for the entrance, the lift and any security point. For a Palm or Bluewaters venue, add the extra time for the approach road and the pick-up point at the end of the night.
Getting home: the part that decides the night
The ride home is the least glamorous part of a best bars Dubai plan and the part most likely to go wrong. Everything good about the evening rests on it, because drinking and driving is off the table, public intoxication is an offence and the last cheap transport leaves earlier than the last good drink. Plan it before you choose the bar, not after the third round.
What the official timetable says
The RTA timetable page, read on 29 October 2026, gives Metro hours of 05:00 to midnight Monday to Thursday and Saturday, 05:00 to 01:00 on Fridays and 08:00 to midnight on Sundays. The tram runs 06:00 to 01:00 Monday to Saturday and 09:00 to 01:00 on Sundays. The city bus is listed as running 04:00 to 01:00.
For any best bars Dubai plan, those are station hours, which are not the same as last-train times. The RTA timing document that we read for our Red Line research showed last departures between about 22:52 and 00:05 depending on the station and direction. The safe planning rule is to leave your bar at least 45 minutes before the station closing time and to confirm the final train for your starting and ending stations on the RTA site. For the fares and the nol card, the Dubai Metro guide has the numbers.
Setting that against bar hours
The two bars whose own sites publish hours show the gap clearly. ZETA Seventy Seven closes at midnight Sunday to Thursday and 01:00 on Friday and Saturday, so a last drink there on a Monday ends exactly when the Metro station closes. Honeycomb Hi-Fi runs to 02:00 Sunday to Thursday and 03:00 on Friday and Saturday, long after the last train. Among the best bars Dubai lists, a bar that closes after the Metro is a taxi bar by design, even if the district has a station.
The tram adds a little room for the best bars Dubai picks in the Marina belt. It runs to 01:00, an hour past the Metro on most nights. But the tram links the Marina, JBR and neighbouring stops with the Metro at DMCC and Sobha Realty according to our Marina research, so on Sunday to Thursday the Metro connection that takes you onward has already closed by the time the tram stops. Treat the tram as a short local hop.
Taxis and ride-hailing, with numbers
Gulf News reported RTA’s revised taxi tariff in November 2025: a street-hail flag-fall of AED 5 by day and AED 5.50 at night (22:00 to 06:00), a per-kilometre charge of AED 2.14 to 2.26, a minimum fare of AED 12 (AED 13 by app), a booking fee of AED 4.00 off-peak up to AED 7.50 at peak, and AED 0.50 a minute waiting. The peak windows given were 08:00 to 10:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 Monday to Thursday and 16:00 to midnight on Fridays. Salik road tolls add AED 4 a gate.
Our calculation from that tariff, for a night street-hail ride home from the best bars Dubai lists, before Salik: about AED 27 to 28 for 10 km, 38 to 39 for 15 km, 48 to 51 for 20 km and 59 to 62 for 25 km. One Salik gate adds AED 4. App fares can include different elements and surge, so treat the street-hail figures as a floor for planning. For major events, Gulf News has reported special start fares and dynamic pricing near fireworks areas, with no 2026 detail found.
Peak fare on Fridays. If the Gulf News report is current, a Friday app booking between 16:00 and midnight carries the peak booking fee. A late-night ride after midnight is outside those peak windows in the report, but weather, events and a queue of other tired people have their own effect on price. Check the fare screen before you confirm.
A three-step exit plan
- Decide the exit before the first orderMetro before the last-train time, taxi after it, or a pre-booked car. Put the choice in the group chat so nobody improvises at 01:30.
- Book 15 minutes before you want to leaveOrder the ride while you finish the drink. Stay inside until the vehicle shows on the map, not on the pavement, because being under the influence in public is an offence.
- Share the ride and confirm the destinationSplit the fare, share your trip with someone not at the table and check the plate before you get in. Do not leave a friend to travel alone if they are unwell.
Do not drive: the parking and rental angle
People sometimes drive to one of the best bars Dubai has “just for one”. The rule above makes that unsafe and unlawful. Leaving the car and collecting it the next day is the legal alternative, but it can cost more than a taxi. As an example, Dubai Mall’s published tariff, read for our Downtown research, climbs to AED 500 for more than 12 hours in the car park. Venue parking differs, so ask before you leave a vehicle overnight.
If you hire a car for the trip, treat it as a daytime tool. Our car rental guide explains deposits and insurance, and the UK government warns that drink-driving at any level can void your insurance. A bar-night plan is easier with no car in it at all.
When to go: heat, sunset times, Ramadan and New Year
The best bars Dubai has to offer have a season and a rhythm. The cool months, from November to March, are when terraces and rooftops make the most sense, because after-dark temperatures are comfortable. The hot months push people indoors, and rooftop bars adapt in ways our sources do not describe, so assume nothing about summer terraces until you have confirmed them.
How warm the nights are
Mean daily minimum temperatures, a rough proxy for night-time warmth, range from 14.3 degrees Celsius in January to 30.4 degrees in August, according to climate averages that Wikipedia attributes to the Dubai Meteorological Office. We treat that as secondary data. November averages 20.1, December 16.3, February 15.5 and March 18.3, which is terrace weather. June through September averages 26.9 to 30.4, so a rooftop after dark is warm even before humidity.
Sunset timing for rooftop planning
Our calculation puts mid-month sunset at 17:49 in January, 18:12 in February, 18:28 in March, 18:41 in April, 18:56 in May, 19:10 in June, 19:12 in July, 18:55 in August, 18:24 in September, 17:53 in October, 17:32 in November and 17:31 in December. Dubai does not use daylight saving, so times stay on UTC+4 all year. Compare with an official almanac before building a schedule around the exact minute.
The practical lesson for the best bars Dubai has with views: from November to January, sunset is a 17:30 event, so a rooftop sunset slot is an early evening, not a late one. In summer, it shifts to nearly 19:10, but the heat is at its worst. The best balance for a coastal sunset drink is probably the shoulder months, March and November, though that is our reading, not a rule. For travel timing more widely, the best time to visit Dubai guide is the reference.
Ramadan 2027
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February, with Eid Al Fitr around 9 to 10 March, according to The National’s October 2026 report, subject to moon sighting. The UK government advises avoiding eating, drinking and smoking in public during daylight hours and avoiding loud music and dancing in public during the period, and notes that hotels and restaurants serving during fasting hours may use screens.
We found no official 2027 guidance on opening hours or entertainment at the best bars Dubai lists, so assume opening patterns and live music may change and ask every venue directly. Dress also matters more in public spaces. The Dubai etiquette guide covers Ramadan conduct, and the February events guide shows what else lands on the calendar that month.
New Year’s Eve and event nights
New Year’s Eve 2026 falls on a Thursday. Gulf News reported that for New Year’s Eve 2023, RTA raised minimum taxi fares at selected locations from AED 12 to AED 20 and that app fares were doubled around fireworks areas. We did not find 2026 arrangements, so assume a similar pattern is possible and book your table and your ride early. The Dubai events calendar guide shows how to track the dates, and the January events guide covers the festival season that follows.
Safety, problems and what to do about them
Dubai is widely described as safe, and many of the best bars Dubai has are inside hotels with staff on hand. The tourism board’s safety page uses language to that effect. A bar night still has the same risks as bar nights anywhere, plus rules that differ from many home countries. This section is general information from public sources, not medical, legal or security advice.
Your drink, your group, your phone
The UK government’s advice is the simplest checklist we found for a best bars Dubai night. It warns that drinks can be spiked, and that people have been assaulted or robbed afterwards. So: buy your own drinks, watch them being made if you can, keep your hand over a glass, do not accept drinks from strangers, and never leave a drink unattended. If you feel unusually unwell, tell a friend or staff immediately and ask for help.
Keep the group together at the end of a best bars Dubai night. Charge your phone before you go out, because a dead phone means no ride and no map. Share your location with someone who is not at the table. Know the name and address of your hotel in a form a driver can read. These are ordinary habits, and they matter more in a city where you may not know the streets.
Emergencies and who to call
The widely published emergency numbers in the UAE are 999 for police and 998 for an ambulance, but we did not re-verify them on an official page on 29 October 2026, so save them from the Dubai Police and Dubai Health sources before you travel. For care options and what to do if you are unwell, see our Dubai healthcare guide, and for the cover that pays the bill, the insurance guide.
The UK government also notes that, under UAE law, a complainant who had been drinking can face a high burden of proof in a sexual assault case. This is not a reason to avoid reporting. It is a reason to seek advice quickly from police and your embassy or consulate, and to keep records such as messages and receipts. If you are with someone who has been harmed, stay with them and call for help.
Bills, tabs and disputes
At the best bars Dubai offers, ask for the bill itemised if a group has shared a tab, and check the tax and service lines before you pay. If a charge is wrong, raise it politely with the manager at the table. Insults, swearing or rude gestures can be treated as offences in themselves, as the UK government notes, so the fastest way to turn a bill problem into a police problem is to lose your temper. Our legal basics guide explains where to complain formally if a venue will not fix an error.
Alcohol and heat
Alcohol and heat both dehydrate. A terrace in June is not the place for a quick sequence of strong drinks, so alternate with water, eat something substantial and leave sooner than you would at home. This is general information, not medical advice. If you feel faint, nauseous or confused, stop drinking, move to air conditioning and ask staff for help.
Mistakes that spoil a bar night
Most failed nights at the best bars Dubai offers repeat a short list of errors. Several come straight from the evidence above, and a few are habits that travel from other cities and break here. Read this as a pre-flight check before you book any of the best bars Dubai picks.
- Choosing a venue from a list older than a year. Bars here change hands, refit and pause. Barasti, Terra Solis and Mercury Lounge each still appear in older guides and are not available now.
- Treating the menu price as the final price. A service charge, a municipality fee and VAT can add 15.5 to 22.9 per cent in our illustrative stack. Read the footer of the menu.
- Planning to take the last Metro from a bar that closes after it. Honeycomb Hi-Fi runs to 02:00 or 03:00, long after station closing times, so the ride is a taxi.
- Arriving after a happy hour ends. Bridgewater Tavern’s window is 16:00 to 19:00, and a 19:10 arrival is a full-price arrival.
- Booking a rooftop for the wrong direction of view. A skyline venue after sunset is a different product from a sea-facing one.
- Crossing the city for three venues in one evening. Each hop costs a booking fee, flag-fall and time, and tired groups do not make good choices.
- Leaving ID at the hotel. The legal age is 21, serving anyone younger carries penalties for the venue, and so they check.
- Carrying a drink outside or waiting for a taxi on the pavement while intoxicated. Public intoxication is an offence.
- Filming strangers on a terrace and posting the clip. The consent rule is real and the penalties are large.
- Taking an alcohol bottle back to a hotel in Sharjah. Alcohol there is banned.
Five sample bar nights, worked through
These five best bars Dubai plans are illustrative, built from the evidence above rather than from visits. Each names venues from the best bars Dubai shortlist, shows the timing logic and flags what to confirm. None is a recommendation to spend a particular amount, and every hour needs a check on the venue’s own channel.
1. The compact first night: DIFC and Business Bay
Book a table for two at Galaxy Bar for an early slot through its reservations link, then walk or ride to a dinner nearby, and end with one drink at Honeycomb Hi-Fi if the music suits. Use the Metro before the station closing time or a short taxi. This is the least stressful structure because the venues are close, the Metro is nearby and the whole route is inside the densest part of our list.
Confirm first: Galaxy Bar’s hours, the dinner booking and the last train from the station you will use. Illustrative cost: close to Night A in the cost section, with a short taxi instead of a long one.
2. Sunset on the coast for a Marina or JBR stay
Arrive at ZETA Seventy Seven or Attiko 30 to 45 minutes before sunset, which our calculation puts around 17:30 from November to December and 18:10 to 18:30 from February to March. Order slowly, watch the light go, then move to a seated dinner. ZETA closes at midnight on Sunday to Thursday, so the tram or a taxi is the plan, not a late-night stay.
Confirm first: the sunset slot booking, dress and minimum spend. If Time Out Dubai’s note that ZETA is pricey holds, budget towards Night C in the cost section.
3. After-work drinks for six
Start at Bridgewater Tavern in Business Bay inside its 16:00 to 19:00 happy hour. Then move up to The Lana’s rooftop, High Society, for the skyline. A group of six at a pub is manageable without a minimum conversation, but the rooftop will need a booking. Split the bill by drinks, not equally, so that the person who orders sparkling water is not paying for cocktails.
Confirm first: the happy-hour terms, whether the rooftop is open that evening and the group booking policy. This is a Metro-and-short-taxi night, with Business Bay station as the likely start.
4. A quiet evening for visiting parents
Choose Madinat Jumeirah: Bar Buci for a terrace drink at sunset, a seated dinner and Bahri Bar for a last look at the waterways and the Burj Al Arab beyond. Both are described as relaxed, and neither depends on a DJ. Take a taxi both ways and pre-book the ride home, since the Jumeirah coast has no rail in our sources.
Confirm first: the terrace booking, the dress guideline and whether either venue needs a reservation for guests who are not staying at the hotel. For a hotel stay nearby, see the best luxury hotels guide.
5. The music night
Arrive at Honeycomb Hi-Fi at 19:30, when it opens, for the listening-bar side of the venue: vinyl, books and the Japanese food menu, then stay on if a DJ night suits you. Hours run to 02:00 Sunday to Thursday and 03:00 on Friday and Saturday. A taxi home is built in. This is the right plan for friends who care more about sound than about a view.
Confirm first: which nights have a listening session or DJ, the dress expectation and the reservation. For a stay in the area, the best hotels in Dubai guide helps match a hotel to the district.
Before you book any best bars Dubai table
- Open the venue’s own page or message it today, and confirm hours for the specific night.
- Write down the closing time of the venue and the last train from the nearest station, then compare them.
- Ask about a minimum spend, deposit or cover charge, and whether service and tax are included.
- Check the dress guideline and whether non-hotel guests are welcome at that hour.
- Decide the ride home and who books it before the first order.
- Carry ID that proves you are 21 or older, and a charged phone.
- Agree who is not drinking and who keeps an eye on the group.
- Keep the evening to one anchor venue, and add a second only in the same building or district.
Best bars Dubai FAQ
What are the best bars in Dubai for a first visit?
For a first visit, choose by job and district. The best bars Dubai travellers can use with least friction are Business Bay and DIFC cocktail rooms and a single rooftop. From our evidence, Attiko is the highest-evidence rooftop, Honeycomb Hi-Fi and Galaxy Bar have operator pages that load, and Rose Bar and Bar Buci have the strongest hotel-bar recognition. These are paper-trail judgements, not tasting notes, so confirm hours before you go.
Can tourists drink in Dubai bars without a licence?
Yes, at the best bars Dubai lists and any other licensed venue. The UK government says licensed hotels, restaurants and clubs do not require you to hold a personal licence in Dubai. A personal licence is needed to buy alcohol for home, and Gulf News describes a free 30-day temporary licence for tourists on a passport. You must be 21, and drinking in public places is illegal anywhere in the UAE.
How old do you need to be to go to a bar in Dubai?
The drinking age at the best bars Dubai offers, as everywhere in Dubai, is 21. Carry a passport, a copy the venue accepts or an Emirates ID, because venues check, and showing valid ID confirming you are 21 or older is a defence for those serving, according to Gulf News. Some hotels also have their own age rules; Time Out Dubai describes W Dubai – Mina Seyahi, home of Attiko, as adults-only.
How much does a cocktail cost in Dubai?
We could not verify menu prices for the bars in this guide, so we give no figure as fact. The cost section uses AED 70 as an illustrative drink, which becomes about AED 81 after a 10 per cent service charge and VAT, or about AED 86 if a 7 per cent fee applies. The published data points are AED 32 house pours at Seven Sports Bar and a reported AED 90 unlimited deal at Gaba. Check the menu.
Are there good happy hours in Dubai?
Yes, among the best bars Dubai lists, though terms are thin. Time Out Dubai lists Bridgewater Tavern’s happy hour as 16:00 to 19:00 daily and Seven Sports Bar’s as 17:00 to 20:00 on weekdays with house pours at AED 32. Double Decker has an eight-hour happy hour with no times printed. Always ask which drinks count and whether tax and service are included. Prices and windows change, so treat them as leads.
What time do bars close in Dubai?
It varies by venue and day, and the best bars Dubai picks show a wide range. The two bars whose own sites we could read show the range: ZETA Seventy Seven closes at midnight Sunday to Thursday and 01:00 on Friday and Saturday, while Honeycomb Hi-Fi runs to 02:00 Sunday to Thursday and 03:00 on Friday and Saturday. Hotels and clubs may run later, but we have no published hours for most venues, so ask.
What should I wear to a Dubai bar?
For the best bars Dubai offers, dress one notch above your daytime clothes: smart-casual, closed shoes for the most formal rooms and a light layer for strong air conditioning. The UK government says some venues have their own dress codes. Time Out Dubai describes Gilt as worth dressing up for. No bar in our lists published a dress rule, so message ahead if you are unsure. Our dress code guide covers venue types.
How do I get home from a bar in Dubai?
After the best bars Dubai offers, the Metro stops at midnight on most nights and 01:00 on Fridays, the tram and bus at 01:00, according to RTA’s timetable page, so late nights mean taxis or ride-hailing. By our calculation from Gulf News’ tariff report, a night street-hail ride costs roughly AED 38 to 39 for 15 km before Salik tolls. Book the ride before you finish your drink, and never drive after drinking.
Are bars open during Ramadan?
The UK government’s note that hotels and restaurants serving during fasting hours may use screens implies that licensed venues keep operating, but we found no official 2027 guidance on bar hours. Ramadan 2027 is expected to start around 8 February. The UK government advises avoiding eating, drinking and smoking in public in daylight, and loud music and dancing in public. Confirm each venue’s hours and entertainment.
Can I take photos in rooftop bars?
At the best bars Dubai has for views, you can photograph the view and your own table, but not people without their consent. Gulf News reports that taking or posting photos or video of people without consent is illegal under the cybercrime law, with penalties of up to six months in jail and a fine of AED 150,000 to AED 500,000. Frame shots to avoid strangers, and ask first if someone is in the picture.
Are the best bars Dubai lists open right now?
Not every one, and we cannot promise any. On 29 October 2026 four venues’ own sites loaded without a closure notice, but most entries rest on Time Out Dubai lists dated November 2025 to June 2026. Barasti and Mercury Lounge are closed, and SORA has not opened. Message the venue on the day before you travel to confirm hours and booking.
Is Dubai safe for a solo night out at a bar?
Dubai promotes itself as safe for a night out at the best bars Dubai offers, and its tourism board says as much. The sensible precautions are the ones the UK government lists: do not accept drinks from strangers, keep your drink in sight, and arrange your ride home in advance. A hotel bar or small cocktail room is a gentler start than a loud rooftop. This is general information, not a security assessment, so use your own judgement.
